So, you’ll hardly need me to tell you that wearing white (or any super pale color that could be mistaken for white) at a wedding is a major fashion faux pas, which brings us to a video posted by Tori Evans. Tori is one of Taylor’s dancers and performed alongside her throughout the Eras Tour. She attended the wedding on Friday with her husband, TJ Shaw, and the couple posted a sweet Instagram video showing off their outfits.

Set to the sound of Taylor’s “Wildest Dreams,” TJ showed off his black tux, while Tori stunned in a pale strapless dress with an iridescent finish, paired with some bright heels.

And while she looked undeniably beautiful, people on X are taking issue with Tori’s choice of a light-colored gown for a wedding.

Some of the tweets about Tori’s dress have thousands upon thousands of likes, and now, it seems like her husband is responding to the criticism. In the comments section of the original Instagram video, TJ’s account commented: “DRESS IS PINK CHAMPAGNE color for everyone that doesn’t understand lighting 😂.”

But, despite the defense, fans have argued that “wearing white or colors similar to white” still seems like “a tremendous insult toward the bride.” Here are some of the replies to TJ’s IG comment:

In Tori’s defense, others have noted that plenty of brides — potentially Taylor, in this case — don’t have an issue with their guests wearing white or other pale colors on their big day. “Some brides don’t care like that,” one X user wrote. “I wouldn’t care 1% if someone wore that to my wedding.. everyone is different and Taylor prob told them she doesn’t care I doubt she did it with zero knowledge.”

Dua Lipa was once famously called out for wearing a sheer white dress to Simon Porte Jacquemus’s wedding in France in 2022, leading her to later clarify that white had, in fact, been the dress code. “I don’t know why I got so much stick for it,” she said.
