Recently held meetings in London—where, by the way, the Taurus moon probably fueled some serious negotiations—have reignited the buzz. Hardy has agreed to return for the third season of “MobLand” after a recent meeting in London with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser reportedly resolved tensions behind the scenes.

The report added that Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan are also expected to return for the new season. Hardy’s decision comes after weeks of speculation that he was preparing to leave the Paramount+ crime series.

TMZ reported that Hardy had previously clashed with Butterworth, but the London talks paved the way for his return. The outlet added that Mirren supported bringing him back because producers recognized he remains the face of the series, per TMZ.

Reports claimed Paramount executives reconsidered their decision to move forward without Hardy after viewers strongly pushed back against his reported exit from “MobLand.”

As reported by The Blast, recent meetings were reportedly held with Hardy as Paramount executives explored the possibility of bringing him back to the series.

Sources said that the producers were taken by surprise by the fans, who had seen Harry Da Souza as one of the show’s main attractions.  Sources said the executives had originally thought that they could proceed with the series without Hardy, but that was soon to change as the fallout from the decision proved greater than anticipated.

The executives’ estimates of consumers’ loyalty to Hardy’s character, one source said, were “terribly wrong” and put it as a “huge crisis.” Reportedly, talks were restarted, but with nobody making an official commitment, insiders emphasized that the actor was not back on board.

Reports suggested one of Hardy’s biggest frustrations involved repeated production delays caused by script issues. The actor was also rumored to be planning a break from Hollywood to spend more time with his wife, Charlotte Riley, and their children, making the uncertain filming schedule even harder to accept.

There were also reports of Hardy being late and spending too long in his trailer, which caused an issue on set.  There was a great deal of speculation, but it seems that his character, Harry Da Souza, was not cut from the script, meaning there is always the possibility that he will return to the series.

Helen Mirren, however, appeared to shut down talk of any lasting feud by publicly backing her co-star. The Oscar winner said she would work with Hardy again “in a f-cking heartbeat,” calling him “the most amazing actor” and “a very special person.” She added that the finished performance mattered most.

Paramount+ had not completely given up on Hardy despite reports that the actor could be leaving “MobLand.” Executive producer Guy Ritchie was reportedly working behind the scenes to help bridge the gap between Hardy and the show’s producers.

Insiders claimed the filmmaker has been encouraging David Glasser to find common ground because he enjoys collaborating with the actor.

Public claims that Hardy was fired for his “difficulty” sparked the situation. Sources say the relationship might have been salvaged if the behind-the-scenes drama had not been revealed. Should he ultimately decide against returning, Paramount+ could face a costly challenge, because Harry Da Souza remains central to the storyline. Producers may reportedly need to rewrite and refilm parts of the already completed second season to explain his absence, a move insiders claimed could cost the studio millions before season three even begins.

Reports claimed Hardy’s alleged conduct behind the scenes became a growing concern for the production, with sources accusing him of remaining in his trailer for hours and leaving co-stars, including Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, waiting while filming was delayed.

One insider even described the alleged behavior as “career suicide,” suggesting it risked damaging his standing in the industry, as reported by The Blast.

Reports also claimed production delays threatened Hardy’s plans to step away from Hollywood after 2026. Meanwhile, sources alleged Helen Mirren had become increasingly frustrated by his lateness and attitude, even though the actress would later publicly praise her co-star despite the speculation.

Tom Hardy’s reported return may have settled one major question, but will it be enough to move “MobLand” beyond the controversy that has followed the series for months?
