Fred Trump III has pushed back at his uncle’s statements about his presence to offer aid after the grueling tragedy that took place at the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. The attack that claimed the lives of thousands of Americans has been written into history.
Donald Trump’s nephew joins the long list of many who have disputed his claims about being guided to safety by firefighters after the attacks and bringing his personal construction crew to assist in the search for survivors.
Fred has broken his silence and addressed the stories his uncle has been spreading about his active involvement in the recovery efforts in Lower Manhattan after the tragic 9/11 incident.
He uploaded a lengthy social media post stating that as much as he tries “not to comment personally about my uncle,” he could not hold his peace and intends to clear the air. The politician’s nephew said he was making the statement ahead of the 25th anniversary of the attacks so as not to “take away from the solemn memories.”
“His claim that he brought a crew of workers to help at the site so offends me that I need to speak out,” Fred wrote in his X post. He explained that his uncle was not constructing a “big building” at the time; hence, the only crew he claimed to bring to the site would have been secretarial and accounting employees from Trump Tower.
Fred alleged that he knew many of his uncle’s staff at the time, adding that he was “pretty sure they were not capable physically to help (if they could, I am sure they would try).”
During Donald’s 2016 presidential campaign, he told the story about how firefighters whisked him to safety a few days after the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. At the time, the President claimed two firemen evacuated him from the building, which he described as “big, strong guys,” because of concerns about the building’s collapse.
“The United States Steel building was creaking, really creaking, and we thought it was going to fall because it creaked a lot. It creaked. It still creaks. But it never came down,” Donald reiterated his story on Tuesday, September 8.
In his social media post, Fred touched on the subject, explaining that the grandfather of a very close friend of his was one of the original engineers. He said the building was built to be strong. In addition, the 63-year-old stated that the brother of one of his partners, an engineer, was immediately called to inspect the building.
Although people were originally concerned, it was eventually cleared for occupancy, “not creaking and ready to fall.” Fred ended his post writing that he hoped he had brought some truth to the story, adding that a second one would follow.
Donald made a post on Truth Social retelling his tale of being present at the World Trade Center a few days after the collapse with a large group of construction workers to assist in clearing the rubble and searching for victims.
“Everything I said was exactly accurate and, to prove the point, I am attaching clips of me there with numerous of my people, including my then Head of Security, Matthew Calamari, who has confirmed that very sad trip to Lower Manhattan, many times, to many different Journalists,” he wrote in a lengthy post.
He clarified that he was not there on the day of the attack but was available with his crew as soon as the law allowed. Attached to the statement was a video of Donald dressed in a black suit, a pressed white shirt, and a red tie, speaking to reporters about the tragedy.
He said about 100 men from his company were working at the site, and another 100 were on their way to join the search. The video that the politician posted appears to depict him in Lower Manhattan between Sept. 13 and 18, 2001, but none of the videos show him near the still-smoking rubble, nor do they show the workers he claimed were from his company.
On Tuesday, September 8, Donald, alongside first responders, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and Gold Star families, honored the Americans who gave their lives running to the ruins of the 9/11 fires.
He presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a posthumous award to Welles Crowther, who played his part by trying to rescue others trapped in the crash. Crowther was a 24-year-old equities trader who is often remembered as the “Man in the Red Bandana.” His mother, Alison, and sister, Paige, accepted the Medal on his behalf.
A release from the White House shared that Donald also announced that the U.S. Coast Guard will commission a new Fast Response Cutter in memory of another 9/11 fallen hero.
FDNY firefighter and Coast Guard reservist Jeffrey Palazzo was one of the 343 firefighters who died on that tragic day. The President remembered him for saving many lives till he gave his own life fighting to rescue other New Yorkers at the World Trade Center.
