The incumbent mayor has expressed her thoughts on campaign visuals, which are gaining ground on social media, highlighting the underlying dangers that may follow. This comes as the day either she or the former reality TV star will cross the finish line of the L.A. mayoral race victorious.
Spencer Pratt has promised to have hands on deck, attending to issues he feels have been sidelined by Karen Bass during her time in office. Since voicing his intentions to run for office in January, he has gathered support from far and near.
Bass has reacted to the A.I.-generated political ads now making waves as the election day draws near. She shared her thoughts, noting that the motion pictures are becoming too violent for her taste.
The current L.A. mayor reviewed the ad, which casts her as The Joker and Pratt as The Dark Knight, during a chat with CNN’s Elex Michaelson, stressing that she feels the striking visuals are “taking on a violent turn.”
She explained that the content is a source of worry for her because “when your messages are so hateful, or when you demonize people, then you do provoke people who are unstable.”
TMZ shared that Bass also responded to the narrative being pushed via the ads. Pratt being portrayed as a superhero does not key into reality in the mayor’s opinion. Although she agrees that people look for heroes in times of need, real people are needed to create change.
Bass continued airing her thoughts about the online content before shifting focus to the former reality TV star’s portfolio for the office he is running for.
She explained that stepping into government is no easy feat, and the city of Los Angeles needs seasoned hands to perform their roles efficiently.
The incumbent mayor said that prior to Pratt announcing his candidacy as an aspiring mayor, she had never heard of him or “The Hills,” the MTV show he appeared on that ran from 2006 to 2010.
The media personality shared that he was running for mayor in January after the deadly wildfire burned down his home last year.
Bass also pointed out her opponent’s supposed lack of “background or knowledge in how our government works.”
Furthermore, she noted that celebrity support and sponsors for his campaign alone would not do the trick, adding that she wonders how much of his following contains actual L.A. voters who will hit the polls.
Contrary to Bass’s thoughts, Pratt previously said that he believes his journey to becoming the mayor of the City of Angels will be “really easy.” He explained that he has no worries treading in new waters despite the current mayor’s years of experience.
The entertainer also claimed that the politician could likely end up behind bars due to her “obstructing justice” by allegedly altering the Los Angeles Fire Department after-action report.
As reported by The Blast, the father of two said that he plans to do what Bass did not do while she was in office, and he has made plans to make things work.
Come November 2026, if the elections go in his favor, he would address the issue of homelessness, which has become an eyesore on the streets of L.A.
Pratt also promised to bring in auditors and investigators from the IRS to look at “all of the scammers that are stealing our taxpayer money and increasing homelessness.”
The reality star turned politician is addressing the backlash that recently arose surrounding his living situation.
In his mayoral campaign ad, he was filmed in front of an Airstream trailer saying, “This is where I live,” as he stood outside his trailer with the door open.
Later, TMZ reported that he had been staying at the chic Hotel Bel-Air, where a room costs nothing less than $1,500 per night.
This raised eyebrows, as he had previously called out the luxury homes where incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and challenger Nithya Raman live.
He addressed the controversy, stating, “I don’t live at the hotel Bel Air. I don’t live in the Airstream. I don’t live in Santa Barbara. I don’t have a house. They burned it down.”
He stressed that the place he called home had been destroyed in the wildfire, revealing that he had been forced into hotels and temporary housing due to death threats tied to his campaign.
When asked if he ever lived in the Airstream trailer featured in his campaign ad, he replied, saying, “I haven’t lived anywhere since my house burned down.”
Apart from Brass, the media personality is reportedly also up against Austin Beutner and Rae Chen Huang. In terms of supporters, while Pratt has gathered so many people to his corner, others still rally around the incumbent mayor, sharing in her vision.
The former MTV star also has a foe from his household: his very own sister Stephanie. She spoke out against his political aspirations in February, echoing a similar sentiment that Bass has about his zero political background.
“L.A. does not need another unqualified and inexperienced mayor. A vote for him is a vote for stupidity,” Stephanie previously highlighted. The Blast also reported that Stephanie claims her brother’s decision to get into politics is only an attempt to “stay famous.”
She made a series of social media posts, alleging that Pratt’s past is not as innocent as it appears to be. Stephanie claimed that her older brother “beat” her, got her “hooked” on drugs during her teen years, and was once in a cult.
