Looks like those expecting to see Zendaya grace the Met Gala this year might have to adjust their expectations—a little like trying to force a cosmic alignment during Mercury retrograde. As we gear up for the anticipated event that flaunts a dazzling mix of fashion and fundraising—our beloved A-listers will be strutting their stuff at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate this year’s theme: ‘Costume Art,’ urging attendees to fuse their outfits with artistic inspiration. But as the stars would have it, Zendaya, who has brightened up the Met Gala red carpet seven times in the past with her jaw-dropping outfits, has decided to sit this season out. So, where does that leave her fans, and why don’t we just pretend Tom Holland was gonna show up? It’s going to be a different kind of red carpet magic this year, indeed. LEARN MORE.
Anyone tuning into the Met Gala to see Zendaya should prepare for disappointment, as the Euphoria star is reportedly skipping this year’s event.
For anyone unfamiliar with the Met Gala, the annual event sees A-listers from the worlds of fashion, music, acting and entertainment descend on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume institute dressed in their finest.
The Vogue-organised gala is first and foremost a fundraising event, but it’s also a chance to show off how fashionable you are, with stars partnering with haute couture houses to execute the event’s chosen theme.
With some celebrities doing a better job of it than others.
This year’s theme is ‘Costume Art’ with a dress code of ‘Fashion Is Art’, meaning we can expect attendees to take inspiration from paintings, sculptures and clothing which is more aesthetic than functional.
Just don’t expect to see the Spider-Man actor walking the red carpet tomorrow (4 May).

According to a report from Elle, Zendaya has decided to skip the event this year as it falls in the middle of a busy time in her career.
The 29-year-old has just finished promotional tours for the third season of Euphoria and A24 film The Drama, and will be skipping the New York City event as press for her upcoming projects, The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, kicks off.
Both films are set to hit the theatre screens in July.
Which is fair enough, especially as the actor also has the third Dune film releasing at the end of the year.
It’s not like Zendaya will be missing out on too much either, as the star has been to seven separate Met Gala events over the years.
She made her debut in 2015, wearing an embellished Fausto Puglisi gown for the ‘China: Through The Looking Glass’ themed event.
She has since wowed in outfits such as a Joan of Arc-inspired armour dress, a light-up Cinderella gown and, most recently, an all-white Louis Vuitton pantsuit.
Her absence also means we shouldn’t expect to see a debut from Tom Holland, who has yet to attend the event.

Surprise, surprise, a ticket for the Met Gala is not cheap.
Tickets to the 2025 event, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, reportedly cost $75,000 (£55,000), according to CBS, which is a lot more than your typical charity event.
And even if you had tens of thousands to spare, it’s not possible to simply buy a Met Gala ticket, as all guests have to be invited and approved by Anna Wintour.
And if you’re very lucky, the designer dressing you will foot the bill, meaning you get to attend without forking out an extortionate amount of money.
