Allen arrived armed with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun and additional concealed weapons, including a knife and a .38-caliber semiautomatic pistol.
Despite passing an initial checkpoint, he allegedly opened fire before being tackled by security officers and taken into custody.
He was later charged with attempting to assassinate the president, along with federal gun offenses.

During an April 29 appearance on “The Will Cain Show,” JD Vance recalled how little information he had in those first moments.

The 41-year-old emphasized that the situation could have ended far worse, noting, “It could have been worse,” while adding that “Law enforcement did a great job.”
He also expressed renewed respect for the Secret Service. Reflecting on their presence in everyday life, he pointed out how easy it is to overlook their role until moments like this, when their actions become critical.
“They’re the people that hang out with your kids when your kids are running around outside, they kind of stay in the background of your life a little bit, and it’s easy to forget the reason they are there is for nights like what happened Saturday night,” he shared.
The accused shooter is now moving deeper into the legal process, with court proceedings beginning to take shape.
According to a report from The Blast, Allen has already appeared before a federal judge and is facing multiple serious charges tied to the incident.
Allen was formally arraigned in federal court on a three-count criminal complaint that includes attempting to assassinate the president, transporting a firearm across state lines to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
Following his initial appearance, a judge ordered that he remain in custody while the case proceeds.
A detention hearing has been scheduled for April 30, where prosecutors are expected to argue that he should remain behind bars pending trial.
