Lizzo says losing her virginity meant she honored a longtime pact she made with herself.
The ‘Truth Hurts’ hitmaker, 37, admitted that she ‘lied’ about her virginity ‘for a long time’ after losing it in 2020.
“I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy,” she said on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast.
She went on to win her first Grammy in 2020 and clarified that ‘it was not the night of Grammys’ but soon after.
“I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time,” Lizzo told hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco.
“I feel a weight off of my chest right now. It was so embarrassing. I was in a friend group of girls. We were all girling one night and it was like, ‘Wait, Lizzo are you a virgin?'” she said.

“I was remember it was so embarrassing. I said, ‘I love the D.’ I said that. And it held me over for a little while.”
Lizzo revealed that she went on to have her ‘terrible’ first kiss at 21.
“Ya’ll have no idea. It was religious for me too. Like, when we were teenagers at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn’t do anything before marriage. And then, I was just so scared. Like, nobody wanted to kiss me,” she explained.

“It was a New Year’s Eve thing and he forced it on me. I was really mad and I was like, ‘My first kiss is ruined.’ I was so mad.”
The songwriter has been in a relationship with Myke Wright and went public with him in 2022.
“I am very much in love with Myke. 100 percent. There’s nobody else I’m going to be with for the rest of my life,” she previously said on The Howard Stern Show.

Lizzo joked in a cover story for New York that their relationship was a ‘friends to lovers’ trope, ‘or maybe enemies to lovers’.
“I’m really grateful to have someone who’s extremely supportive, who doesn’t ask for s**t from me, nor does he need s**t from me,” she said.
“He pours into me. He takes care of me.”
“People fight for monogamy like they pray to it every day. I am not a polyamorous person, I’m not in love with multiple partners. That is not me,” she clarified to Vanity Fair.
“He’s [Wright] the love of my life. We are life mates.”
