2025 Emmy Nods Are In: Why ‘Severance’ Dominates and Which Surprises Are About to Rock Your Watchlist—Stars Align or Drama Unfolds?

Added on July 15, 2025 inCelebrity News Cards

So, nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards have landed like a surprise solar flare on a Tuesday night, and guess what? Severance didn’t just lead the pack—it practically blasted off with 27 nods. Following close behind in this celestial showdown are The Penguin with 24, and then there’s The Studio and The White Lotus, each snagging 23 as if fate itself conspired for this cosmic competition. Now, I can’t help but wonder—did Mercury retrograde shove these particular shows into the spotlight, or is this just TV destiny aligning with the stars? Apple TV+’s Severance is dominating the drama realm, missing out on only one category, while Seth Rogen’s Hollywood satire, The Studio, reigns supreme in comedy with a triple-threat nod for Rogen himself. The universe must be winking at us, right? One thing’s for sure: Saturn’s influence on creativity must be strong, because the line-up feels practically astrologically ordained. The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to broadcast live from the Peacock Theater on September 14, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze—mark your calendars, folks, because this cosmic collision of TV greatness is one you won’t wanna miss. LEARN MORE.

Nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday, and Severance led the way with 27 nods, followed by The Penguin with 24 and The Studio and The White Lotus with 23 apiece in the competition for television’s best shows and performances from the past year.

The dystopian workplace drama from Apple TV+ received nominations in all but one drama category (Guest Actor) for its second season, with Adam Scott and Britt Lower earning nominations for their lead roles.

Apple TV’s breakout The Studio received the most nominations in the comedy category, including three for Seth Rogen, who wrote, directed and starred in the Hollywood satire.

“We never thought this would happen,” Rogen and co-creator Evan Goldberg said in a statement. “What do we even say? Uh… thanks to our parents, our agents, our publicists, our preschool teachers, our managers, The Television Academy, our assistants, and Apple? Or do you only say that stuff if you win? Oh no! We’re already blowing it.”

HBO’s The Penguin grabbed the most nods for Limited or Anthology Series, including lead acting nominations for Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti.

The third season of Mike White’s ensemble dramedy The White Lotus was the only other show to receive more than 20 nominations.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and stream live on Paramount+. The show will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze.
