Ever wonder what happens when a seemingly perfect dream home turns into a cosmic headache that even Mercury in retrograde couldn’t fix? The Broadduses bought their house for over $1.35 million, hoping for peace and quiet, but instead got haunted by mysterious letters from “The Watcher.” Five years—and roughly $400,000 later—they sold it at a steep loss, passing the eerie baton to a new set of owners along with a creepy handwritten note and a photograph of the stalkerish script. It’s like the universe played a cruel prank, using real estate and paranoia as its medium. What’s more unsettling: the unknown watcher or the staggering expenses piling up without a single night spent in the place? Yeah, it kinda makes you rethink the whole “home sweet home” mantra under today’s restless stars… LEARN MORE.
In 2019, five years after buying the house for reportedly more than $1.35 million, the Broadduses sold the house for $959,000, according to the Cut, with the family losing approximately $400,000.
This didn’t even factor in the agents’ cut, utility bills, home insurance, and contractors hired to renovate the house they never lived in. They also hired private investigators and lawyers to try to figure out who The Watcher was.
As reported by the Cut, the Broadduses passed along to the new owners a note that read, “We wish you nothing but the peace and quiet that we once dreamed of in this house.” They also included a photograph of The Watcher’s handwriting in the event the new owners started to get letters, too.
