This summer’s soundtrack has been nothing short of epic — from Beyoncé’s electrifying Cowboy Carter tour to the much-anticipated Oasis reunion shaking up arenas everywhere. But here’s the kicker: despite all the buzz, music lovers are sneaking out before the encore. Why, you ask? Turns out, the younger crowd is prioritizing something we astrologers might call a cosmic nod to self-care and balance — almost like Saturn’s disciplined gaze urging them to catch those precious Z’s rather than chase the fading beat. One in four gig-goers are bowing out early to secure a solid eight-hour slumber, with Gen-Z leading the charge on wellness vibes. Meanwhile, the millennials are still riding the “work hard, play hard” wave, ready to risk the morning-after headache for just a bit more floor time. It’s a delightful dance of ages and priorities under the stars, and Holiday Inn Express has stepped right in with its Fresh or Fried gig care packages — perfect for both the early retreaters and the all-night party animals alike. Curious which cosmic concert clan you belong to? Dive in and find out. LEARN MORE
It’s been a huge summer for music, from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour to the long-awaited Oasis reunion.
But that hasn’t stopped music lovers from leaving gigs early and missing the encore – and you won’t believe the reason why.
According to new research commissioned from Holiday Inn Express by IHG, the younger generation are most likely to make a quiet exit before the last chorus kicks in.

In fact, one in four gig-goers skip the final song in order to get a solid eight hours sleep, with 39% of Gen-Zs prioritising self-care and feeling fresh the next day.
Millennials on the other hand will risk a sore head for extra hours on the dance floor.
Wellness expert, expert and TedX speaker Adrienne Adhami explains: “It’s understandable that Gen-Z and millennials take a different approach to concerts and the morning after. Gen-Z came to party with a wellness playbook in hand.
“They’ve grown up in a world that talks about burnout, boundaries and balance. Meanwhile, millennials were the generation that coined ‘work hard, play hard’, so it makes sense that Gen-Z pace themselves and prioritise feeling good the next day, while millennials are going all in, even if it costs them the morning after. It’s not about which one is better, it’s just different priorities.”

To be honest, we get it, and that’s where hotel brand Holiday Inn Express comes in with the recent launch of their limited edition Fresh or Fried gig care packages – designed to help you stay for the encore or unwind when you get back to the hotel.

Will Best and AJ Odudu are the faces of the campaign and have very different ideas of what makes a good night out. For instance, Best is firmly Team Fresh.
“I go to lots of gigs, but I still have to get up early for breakfast radio, so while I have fun and definitely indulge in some questionable dad dancing, I still like to wind down properly afterwards.”
Meanwhile, AJ Odudu is proudly the last to leave the dance floor, so will be in need of the Fried package. “I’m a night owl and I always get a second wind, especially in a concert crowd,” she said. “I definitely get that from my mum!”

The gig care packages are now available at participating Holiday Inn hotels across the UK and Ireland until September 24, and honestly, they’re nothing short of iconic.
