A new documentary on the life and success of Justin Bieber has provided a sad reason why the singer sold his entire music catalogue back in 2022.
The Canadian singer, who rose to fame when he was just a teenager, has been in the media spotlight in recent years, despite not releasing any new music since 2021.
There has been widespread fan speculation about his health, though his reps have insisted he’s in ‘one of the best places in his life’.
When the allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs also came to light, there were also further concerns that Bieber could have been one of the US rapper’s reported victims, but the 31-year-old quickly denied that.
And now, a new documentary, titled TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber, has identified what they believe has happened to the musician in the last few years, as worries grow around his mental and physical well-being.

During the new documentary, TMZ executive producer Harvey Levin claims that the singer had amassed between $500 million and $1 billion throughout his career, but ultimately ‘had to sell his music catalogue because he was broke.’
He said: “I was on a call with multiple people — Justin’s side acknowledges that in 2022, he was on the verge of… the words were ‘financial collapse.’ And that’s why he had to sell his catalogue.”
The Hollywood Reporter also suggested last month that he was ‘broke’ having been forced to cancel his ‘Justice World Tour’ in 2023, after it had been postponed several times the previous year.
Bieber had to axe the tour after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome and suffering from facial paralysis, saying he needed to make his ‘health a priority’.
He hit back at the Hollywood Reporter’s claims and argued their story was completely ‘inaccurate’.

His representatives said: “This is just clickbait stupidity based on unnamed — and clearly ill-informed — ‘sources,’ disappointed that they no longer work with Justin.
“As Justin forges his own way forward, these unnecessary stories and inaccurate assumptions will continue. But, they won’t deter him from staying committed to following the right path.”
We’ve seen on many occasions how children who are exposed to celebrity life at a young age can have struggles when they grow up, and perhaps Bieber is yet another case, if the allegations made in the TMZ documentary are indeed true.
TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber is available to watch on Hulu now.
