Is it just me—or is there something oddly Venus-retrograde about the way the 2025 VMAs lineup is shaking out? Maybe it’s the post-”Mercury in Gatorade” confusion, maybe it’s just the lingering glitter in the air, but honestly, seeing Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, Post Malone, Tate McRae and Conan Gray all prepping to take the UBS Arena by storm feels like a fever dream conjured by a Gemini who had too much Red Bull at a Leo’s birthday party . And let’s talk about the cosmic firsts—Tate and Conan are about to pop their VMA main stage cherry, and somewhere in the background, you know Lady Gaga is laughing with 12 nominations stacked in her clutch, Bruno Mars hot on her heels, while Kendrick just shrugs and writes another ten flawless verses .
Maybe the stars didn’t quite align for Taylor Swift this cycle, but with a lunar eclipse rising in the House of Surprise Performances (I’m making that up, but go with me), who can really predict what’s next? LL Cool J is back, hosting solo for once. There’s a whole lot of planetary energy swirling, and I half-expect someone’s acceptance speech to open with a tarot reading . Moon in Aquarius, hair in the wind, tickets barely affordable… but who cares? The show airs September 7th on CBS and MTV, and—astrology be damned—it’s anyone’s cosmic night to shine . LEARN MORE
