In a move that could only be described as both hilarious and bold, the University of Oregon’s mascot chose to make a splash during live ESPN coverage by shooting his shot at actress Sydney Sweeney, who had no trouble quacking back with her own witty response! Many may find it challenging to turn down anyone in a duck costume—especially when they’re putting it all out there on live television—but Sweeney’s reaction was as savage as it was swift. After all, she’s not only a star from Euphoria but also engaged to Jonathan Davino, so this feathered friend might have misjudged his chances… What’s next, a chicken trying to snag a date with the local celebrity? Let’s dive into this feathered fiasco and see how social media and Sweeney reacted! LEARN MORE
Most people wouldn’t have the heart to turn down a bloke donning a huge duck costume who was brave enough to shoot their shot on live TV, but Sydney Sweeney had no qualms about hitting back with an absolutely savage response.
To be fair, he’s absolutely quackers for thinking it could work – especially as the Euphoria actress, 27, has been engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino as of October 2023 – but fair play to him all the same.
Viewers tuning into ESPN’s College GameDay coverage on Saturday (12 October) were left stunned when they spotted the University of Oregon’s mascot making a bid for Sweeney‘s affections in the background.
As the presenters made their predictions ahead of Ohio State’s showdown against their rivals, college football fans watching from home couldn’t believe their eyes when they spotted the duck trying his luck.

The mascot appeared as though he was nearly dislocating his shoulder while attempting to get his sign in the shot.
It simply read: “Sydney Sweeney call me back.”
Straight to the point, you’ve got to respect his game – although I’m sure Davino wasn’t too impressed by it.
Social media users went wild after spotting the tongue-in-cheek sign and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One laughed: “That duck knows what’s up!”
Another wrote: “The Oregon Duck is the greatest mascot in the history of this planet. I will take no arguments on this.”
A third chimed in: “The Oregon Duck always has got jokes. Love it!”

A fourth added: “Honestly, the Oregon Duck living that relatable life – chaotic, energetic, and always stealing the show!”
While a fifth joked: “She never called you back either…I know the feeling haha.”
But it turns out that Sweeney has an explanation for why she’s apparently been blanking phone calls left, right and centre.
The Anyone But You star took to her Instagram stories to respond to The Oregon Duck’s declaration of interest after it went viral, while sharing a snap of him holding the comical sign.
Sweeney wrote alongside the image: “Sorry. Changed my number haha.”
A nice way to duck out of a potential date with a random man in a waterfowl costume, to be fair.
Let’s hope the rejection was like water off a duck’s back for him, anyway – and Oregon did end up bagging a win over Ohio State in the end too, so maybe that guy is a lucky duck after all.
Right – that’s the last ducking joke, I swear.
