‘Why is a horse sat next to Danny Dyer?’ is what we were all thinking while tuning in to the Brit Awards on Saturday evening (1 March).
As well as Charli XCX picking up five awards on the night and Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘outrageous’ on-stage display, it seems we were all taken aback by a woman wearing a chestnut-coloured horse head mask.
German DJ HorsegiirL refers to herself as a ‘half-horse, half-human’ sort of character.
Also known as Stella Stallion, she made a name for herself after her track ‘My Barn My Rules’ went viral on TikTok in 2023.
And when she was sat next to the former EastEnders star, 47, at the Brits, everyone questioned the identity of the masked figure.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday (2 March), she shared a series of photos from the night, well aware of the talk around her appearance.
“Who is horsegiirL?!?? last night @brits,” she captioned the post, as her fans were delighted with the attention she received.
“Girl u had everyone confused lmfaooo,” one person commented, as another penned: “Was so happy to see you on screen!”
“I know a barn queen when I see one,” a third wrote.
As we all know, Dyer loves a bit of effing and jeffing, and as you’d expect, he didn’t hold back over the weekend.

During a conversation with host Jack Whitehall, Dyer was speaking about his upcoming film Marching Powder, describing it as ‘Bridget Jones but with the word c**t.’
We still don’t really know what that meant.
Anyway, this led to immediate censorship during the live ITV broadcast.
“Right when I said say anything, not that word, obviously! This is ITV,” a stunned Whitehall laughed.
“What I love about you is, you call a mug a mug.
“If we were giving out a Brit Award for your ‘t**t of the year’, who would win the Danny Dyer b*ll end-dor?”
Dyer responded: “The world is being run by cranks at the moment,” adding, “probably Sir Keir Starmer. He’s a s**g.”
Whitehall then felt like it was appropriate to cut off the actor, saying: “Let’s not turn this into a riot!”
Dyer didn’t change his tune, however, and while presenting the International Song of the Year award to Chappell Roan, he commented on her absence, saying she ‘couldn’t be f***ed to be here’.
It was a successful Brits for the Spice Girls, who took home the gong for British Single of the Year and British Video of the Year, but it was Geri Halliwell’s dress that really stole the show.
The star’s infamous minidress became a pop culture icon, stirring up plenty of controversy at the time thanks in no small part to her underwear being on show.

Danbert Nobacon, of pop band Chumbawamba, gave us one of the most jaw-dropping moments of the awards when he chucked a bucket full of ice water over then-deputy prime minister John Prescott, who was left with a suitably drenched outfit and a face like a slapped a*se.

Under pressure from producers to wrap things up, host James Corden cut off Adele’s speech after she took home the gong for Best Album, which didn’t go down well with the singer, who stuck up her middle finger to the camera.
Adele said the move was aimed at ‘the suits at the Brit Awards, not to my fans’, with the organisers later issuing an apology for cutting her off.

As Madonna returned to the Brits stage for the first time in two decades, things quickly went west after she went absolutely flying down a set of stairs thanks to a catastrophic wardrobe malfunction.
It was later found that her cape was tied on too tight, so when one of her dancers tried to take it off as part of a dramatic outfit reveal, it yanked the queen of pop offstage. Ouch.

While performing a medley of his most popular hits, the grime star began to freestyle a verse about then-prime minister Theresa May’s response to the Grenfell Tower fire.
“Yo, Theresa May, where’s the money for Grenfell? / What, you thought we just forgot about Grenfell? / You’re criminals, and you got the cheek to call us savages / You should do some jail time, you should pay some damages,” he rapped.
In perhaps one of the most toe-curling moments in Brits history, host Jack Whitehall conducted a pretty awkward spontaneous chat with pop band Little Mix as he seemingly attempted to bring up their alleged feud with Piers Morgan.
“He didn’t like that picture where you stripped off naked … voluptuous chest and four chins, it must have been like looking in the mirror for him. Jesy, what would you say to that dutty wasteman?” Whitehall said – which, it’s safe to say, went down like a lead balloon and resulted in the biggest tumbleweed moment of the event.
