Tyrese recently popped into Shannon Sharpe’s *Club Shay Shay* podcast, and let me tell you—if you think it’s going to be a tidy little chat, think again! The actor-singer-comedian (okay, maybe that’s a stretch) predicted that this episode would have just as much buzz as that Katt Williams sit-down, which is saying something. I mean, those are some pretty big shoes to fill. But while I’m sure what they talked about will generate quite the chatter, there was one particular discussion that really seemed to light a fire under Tyrese’s proverbial seat—specifically, the rivalry between Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z.
“Who’s the bigger rapper on a global scale? Who’s more famous, Jay-Z or Snoop Dogg?” Tyrese boldly asked. I mean, if you drop these guys in a mall in Moscow, who could clear it out faster—the icon from Brooklyn or the Long Beach legend? “Snoop Dogg is the biggest f***ing superstar in the world. That’s my big homie,” he declared, with all the conviction and pride you’ve got to hand it to him! And here’s the kicker: Tyrese and Snoop have been ride-or-die friends, supporting each other through some pretty heavy personal shenanigans in recent times. Isn’t that just heartwarming?
Now, let’s pause for a second. We’re talking about two of hip-hop’s titans debating who reigns supreme. It’s like watching Thor and Iron Man squabble over who can throw the better punch! Both legends don’t cross paths often, but they dance in the same circles, sharing tons of collaborators, goals, and, oh yeah—Pharrell’s upcoming *LEGO film*! Can you imagine both Snoop and Jay as mini-figures? Hilarious, right?
But look, their collaborative history might not be robust, but there’s an unspoken respect between these two that speaks volumes. They carry the flag for hip-hop—whether the genre is seeing its zenith or wrestling with some nasty lows. They’re undeniably the poster boys of rap, representing it on the grand stage! You gotta love it!
And then there’s Snoop’s cheeky side—he threw some playful shade about not getting invited to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation brunch. “They know when I walk in, my outfit is gonna turn everything out. So they’re like, ‘Keep that n***a away!'” Oh, the audacity! Jokes aside, one has to wonder—will we see these two powerhouses unite in future projects, or are they destined to continue on their solo artistic journeys?
One thing’s for sure, this debate has definitely added some spice to the ongoing conversation about who’s the biggest name in rap. And while we all ponder that heavy question, let’s hope for some mutual collaborations to shake things up. After all, wouldn’t it be something to witness these legends join forces?
And if they don’t? Well, we can always count on their individual exploits to keep us entertained!
Tyrese was the latest guest on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, and we’re sure that it will make for another explosive episode. In fact, the former even proclaimed that it will make about as much of a splash as the Katt Williams interview did, which is certainly a tall order. However, one thing that might be more controversial and debatable than this assessment relates to one of their many discussions. At one point during their conversation, the duo landed on the topic of Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z, and decided to debate which of the two hip-hop superstars is more of a globally famous celebrity.
“Who’s a bigger rapper globally? Most famous of the two. Jay-Z or Snoop Dogg?” Tyrese asked. “If Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg were in a mall in Moscow, who would shut the mall down? [Snoop Dogg is the] biggest f***ing superstar in the world. That’s my big homie. Long Beach, West Coast, I wish a motherf***er would.” We know that Snoop and the actor/singer are very good friends, with both of them supporting each other through some tough personal hardships over recent months.
As for Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z, they don’t cross over often, but they do share a lot of common collaborators, institutions, and goals. For example, they will both appear in Pharrell‘s upcoming LEGO film alongside other MCs like Kendrick Lamar, playing fictionalized mini-figure versions of themselves. Elsewhere, they don’t have much of a collaborative history or strong links, but they definitely respect each other to the highest degree as rap legends. After all, they are arguably the two biggest faces of the genre and represent it – for better or worse – at the highest mainstream commercial levels.
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg had previously joked about not being invited to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation brunch, so maybe that informs a bit of this “Who’s more famous?” discussion. “They know when I walk in, my outfit is going to turn everything out. So they like, ‘Keep that n***a away,'” he said during a podcast interview. Jokes aside, we wonder if we will see these two hip-hop icons link up in some way in the near future, or if their paths will focus more on their individual exploits.
