During an episode of her podcast, “Life, Love, [And] Beyond with Tamar [And] Taz,” Braxton revealed she wouldn’t be getting back into the dating scene until her son, Logan, 11, became a legal adult.
“There’s no way I’m going to bring another man into his life to be unsuccessful. There’s no way,” she said in February 2025.
Braxton shares her son with ex-husband Vincent Herbert, who starred in their family reality show “Tamar & Vince.”
The pair married in 2008 before splitting in 2019.
“Collectively, their son Logan and his well-being during this extremely unfortunate process is most important. We ask that everyone respects her privacy during this incredibly difficult time. She appreciates everyone’s love and prayers,” Braxton’s rep told PEOPLE following their split.

While appearing on “Sherri,” the reality star clarified her statements and admitted she may have been exaggerating on her podcast.
“But here’s the thing: I didn’t want to keep introducing Logan to the people that were in my life. I just want to mentally protect him as much as I can. I don’t want to give him any abandonment issues or anything like that,” she said.
“So for me, as a single mother, it’s giving very much I just need to wait until the Lord brings me who the Lord wants me to be with,” Braxton continued.

“I haven’t been dating for a year at all,” she added, “Nothing.”
However, the “Love and War” singer explained that after a year of remaining to herself, she’s “ready to go outside.”
“And now that I’m going outside, girl, I have to be prepped up and be prepped and ready,” she finished.

Although she admittedly gets the urge to mingle with others, she declared confidently she wasn’t interested in that. “If they’re not like-minded and we’re not on the same page… I’m dating for intent, and nobody is dating for intent anymore. It’s crazy,” she said.

In a recent Instagram video, Braxton shared another revelation about her personal life, and it’s that she’s taking the HIV prevention medication PrEP.
PrEP, also known as pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a “medicine that reduces your chances of getting HIV from sex or injection drug use,” according to the CDC.
The medication is highly effective at preventing HIV, reducing the risk of contracting the virus from sex by about 99% when taken as prescribed.
“I ain’t for the outside,” Braxton said in her lengthy video. “I’m not going for what everybody else is going for. I’m just not finna do that.”
“Dawg, like all of you is dating the same dude,” she continued. “Like, y’all is sharing the same dude. Like, it’s giving, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,” she sang in the tune of Cherrelle’s song “Saturday Love.”

“I don’t think I’ve seen a hetero cis woman openly admit to being on PrEP,” someone commented. “Kudos to you for sharing and letting people know [that] women also have different options to protect themselves!”
Another commenter clearly agreed and thanked Braxton for being “the first celebrity Black woman … [to] mention PrEP.”
On X, a user called Braxton’s decision to start PrEP “really smart preventative care.”
“Hear Tamar out,” they continued. “She may be a one-man woman, but she can’t guarantee her partner is a one-woman [kind of] man.”
They added, “Black women contract HIV from cheating partners at an alarming rate. Better safe than sorry.”
