Can Sydney Sweeney really make liberals’ heads explode just by rocking a cowboy hat and a swimsuit on a sun-kissed beach? Apparently, yes—and isn’t it ironic that Neptune, that mystical planet of illusion and confusion, is currently swirling through Pisces, adding extra fog to the spectacle. Sydney’s latest Hey Dude ad has exploded on X, highlighting her curves and stirring up everything from adoration to outright nastiness, with a few keyboard warriors getting triggered over her “bikini body” (who knew swimwear caused seismic shifts in social media?). But here’s the kicker: while some dismiss the backlash as just more internet noise, others see it as part of a bigger cultural dust-up—because when a promo video racks up 29 million views and sparks debates about “good jeans” versus “good genes,” you can bet the cosmic stars are having some fun with this circus. So buckle up, amigos—Sydney’s got more up her sleeve than just a cowboy hat this summer. LEARN MORE
Sydney Sweeney was back under the microscope at the end of July as fans on X debated the effect of her latest Hey Dude campaign. When Sydney’s promotional video for the footwear brand went viral, fans discussed the 27-year-old making “liberals explode,” although some found other subjects to discuss.
The footage, which showed Sydney strutting across a beach in a plunging swimsuit and cowboy hat, captured the actress’s famous curves, and for one fan, this celebrity is “triggering” to both “fat” and “annoying” women.
The possibly humorous, possibly misogynistic remark was one of many comments left, some of which sent The White Lotus star love.

Scroll for the video. Backed by lapping ocean waves as she walked across a white-sand beach toward lightweight outdoor seating and her belongings, Sydney wowed in a clingy, low-cut bathing suit in caramel shades.
Flashing her ample cleavage in her string-accent swimwear, the Armani Beauty ambassador rocked bust strings to accentuate her chest, with a fitted bodice augmenting her hourglass proportions.

Adding Western energy from her cowboy hat as she wore her light locks down beneath it, Sydney carried a printed kaftan in one arm, eventually reaching a beach rug complete with an old-fashioned radio as she settled herself down to relax. Sydney also flashed her toned legs in early parts of the footage, which also saw her clad in Hey Dude’s lightweight sneakers.
@ThePatriotOasis reposted the video, which has now been watched over 29 million times. “I’ve seen more posts of y’all talking about the liberals complaining about her ads than I’ve actually seen the liberals complaining about her ads! THAT says a lot about what’s REALLY going on!” one fan replied.

Possibly going down the hater route, another said that Sydney Sweeney was “triggering to fat and annoying women” everywhere.
The video came just one day before Sydney debuted her American Eagle campaign, one that’s definitely caused waves. On July 31, the A-lister dropped her “Sydney has good jeans” campaign, but with a transition to “Sydney has good genes” in the video, users online were outraged.
A massive PR disaster ensued as American Eagle was accused of promoting white supremacy as it got a high-profile, white, blonde woman to say that she has “good genes.”

The ad showed Sydney Sweeney in a white tank and baggy jeans as she used a vintage vehicle as a prop.
“Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue,” Sydney says in one video. American Eagle has since made a statement defending its campaign.
