It’s another day for Sydney Sweeney, which means another day of facing headlines related to her controversial American Eagle jeans ad.
The actress was recently called a “butterface” amid the viral pushback to the jeans campaign, which has been labeled both “tone-deaf” and “woke.”
Fortunately for the “Euphoria” star, though, fans have been coming to her defense as the actress remains silent.

As The Blast previously reported, Rachel Bitecofer, who claims to be a national political analyst, responded to a post on X that read, “Is anyone on the left actually upset about Sydney Sweeney? I couldn’t care less and haven’t met a single person who does. Another manufactured scandal.”
Rachel responded, “No one on the left even knows there’s an issue. Is [sic] all rage porn on MAGA Twitter. Did make American Eagle a ton of money for no reason, though.” When a user replied, “I’m not sure who Sydney is,” Rachel called her a “butterface who looks great in jeans.”
This immediately led to backlash from fans who disliked the meaning of the word “butterface,” which usually refers to a woman who has an appealing body but an unattractive face.

One individual clearly didn’t appreciate seeing a woman criticize another woman’s appearance, writing, “Remarkable how the honorable defenders of women instantly attack other women’s appearances. It’s like they forget they have to keep up their act.”
“Women who choose to put other women down on the internet, just because they look better than them, or don’t share their political beliefs, are the lowest of the low,” another follower agreed.
“Even if you don’t like her, Sydney is, objectively, attractive,” a third fan chimed in. “Symmetrical features, good skin, she checks almost every objective measurement box.”

In a post on Truth Social, U.S. President Donald Trump praised the fact that “The White Lotus” actress registered as a Republican in the state of Florida, calling the American Eagle jeans advertisement the “HOTTEST” ad out there. He claimed that the jeans are “flying off the shelves,” and encouraged the actress to keep up the campaign, writing, “Go get ‘em Sydney!”
He also took a moment to bash singer Taylor Swift, with whom he has a longstanding feud ever since she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the last election. “Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!),” Trump wrote. “She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.”

Although American Eagle seemingly doubled down on the innocuous nature of the ad, the “Madame Web” star has not actually responded to the backlash that she has received. In a statement, the company wrote, “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her Jeans. Her Story.”
They went on to say, “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.”
