So, Jenny Lewis just hit the big 5-0 and decided to celebrate in the most delightfully unconventional way—by saying “I do” to her charming cockapoo, Bobby Rhubarb. Now, I don’t know about you, but when Saturn is doing its classic “it’s time to get serious” dance around Capricorn, maybe tying the knot with a furry best friend is exactly the kind of cosmic rebellion we need. Seriously, why wrestle with the dating drama when your pup’s tail wags with unconditional love and zero ghosting? Dressed in a wedding gown and surrounded by bandmates making it official, Jenny’s backyard bash served up heartwarming moments and rainbow cakes that screamed “JL50.” It’s a reminder that sometimes, the stars—and maybe a clever cockapoo—know best when it comes to love and living your truth. Singer Jenny Lewis has marked reaching the age of 50 by saying ‘I do’ to her adorable cockapoo in a ceremony attended by her friends and bandmates.
Dating can be a tough, especially as you get older, there’s no doubt about that. And Lewis seemingly decided that she’s fed up of trying to find the right person and has instead ‘married’ her dog, Bobby Rhubarb.
The Rilo Kiley front-woman, who turned 50 on Thursday (January 8), took to social media on Saturday (January 10) to share a number of pictures from the special day.
“I married my dog for my 50th birthday…BLESS!” she captioned the X post, as well as adding a number of Polaroid snaps from the backyard ceremony.
Remarkably, Lewis even donned a wedding dress for the occasion, while two cakes were also pictured. The multi-layered rainbow cakes had the writing ‘JL50’ and ‘For BETTER or for WORSE I do!’ on them.

Many flocked to the comments section of the social media post to offer their congratulations, while others made a dog pun or two.
“Bad news: Dogs get the seven-year itch almost immediately. Good news: It can easily be cured with belly scratches,” one person penned, while a second added: “He might forget your anniversary, just let it slide.”
Entertainment outlet Consequence Daily shared a further glimpse into the wedding with more pictures of Lewis and the cockapoo’s big day.
One snap saw the singer holding a red-and-pink bouquet in one hand and the dog’s lead in another.
The likes of Morgan Nagler, Dave Scher, and Phantom Planet’s Alex Greenwald were said to be in attendance, while Lewis’ bandmate, Ben Gibbard, was also there and sang with the bride at the wedding reception.
Lewis spoke about her pup during an interview with Rolling Stone in 2023, where she revealed that she adopted him in her 40s while she was going through a bit of a rough patch.
The singer told the outlet: “I was in a really rough spot. I’d been isolated for over a year, quarantining totally on my own, and I had to find things to get me out of the house. The truck provided that.
“I don’t have any kids, but this dog opened me up in so many ways — being responsible for a soul and caring for something outside of yourself. It’s been a really important lesson for me. Kind of obvious, I guess, but I had no idea. I had fantasies of owning a white wolf.
“Instead, I ended up with a cockapoo.”
