Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in New Orleans after reportedly getting into a fight after a Mardi Gras multi-day binge.
LaBeouf was accused by bartenders working in the city of ‘terrorising New Orleans‘, reportedly walking round bars shirtless and behaving strangely.
First reported by TMZ, Variety has now confirmed the actor’s arrest following a fight which saw paramedics called. Court records indicate that he is facing two charges of simple battery.
The Hollywood Reporter reported earlier today that LaBeouf had been ‘terrorising’ the city, with videos and tweets confirming his bizarre behaviour at Mardi Gras celebrations.
They stated that the celebrity, who had previously spoke about how he was sober for years, had been out drinking alcohol since Thursday.
The following video showed him threatening to fight patrons outside a New Orleans bar over the weekend, with people online claiming that he was ‘cut off’ by a local bar.
This is believed to be separate to the incident for which he was arrested as it does not show him actually fighting anyone.
Pictures acquired by TMZ show the Transformers actor being tended to by paramedics after the reported scrap which saw him arrested.
Robert Skuse, the doorman of a bar in New Orleans, claimed in the THR report that LaBeouf showed up on Sunday with his shirt off, inebriated, and said that he was ‘somewhat belligerent’.
The actor was asked to leave the bar after attempting to be a ‘celebrity bartender’.
One anonymous bartender said he was ‘terrorising the city’, whilst attendees of the celebrations took to social media to slam LaBeouf.

Posting to X, one attendee said: “can someone please do a story about how shia labeouf is literally terrorizing new orleans during mardi gras because we had a run in with him last night and someone really needs to get that guy some help holy sh*t.”
Today marks ‘Fat Tuesday’, the final day of Mardi Gras celebrations. These are intended to mark the final day before the beginning of forty days of Lent in the lead-up to Easter.
LaBeouf has previously spoken publicly about being sober, blaming his abusive behaviour towards ex-girlfriend FKA twigs on his alcoholism.
The actor was accused of being emotionally, physically, and mentally abusive towards the singer, with her suing him in 2020.

This was resolved out of court in 2025, with LaBeouf responding to her claims by saying: “I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years.
“I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt.
“I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations… I am not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism, but I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”
