Shia LaBeouf‘s night out in New Orleans has turned into a legal nightmare for the actor.

The 39-year-old actor was involved in a brawl at a local bar while intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested by authorities and has been charged in connection with the incident.

The cause of the altercation is still unclear, and Shia LaBeouf remains detained until his court appearance on Tuesday evening.

According to reports obtained by TMZ, Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans on Tuesday after being involved in a brawl outside of a local bar.

Footage obtained by the outlet showed the actor shirtless while conversing in a heated manner with a number of people after the altercation. The incident also appeared serious enough to warrant paramedics, who arrived in the aftermath of the brawl and spent some time treating LaBeouf.

The actor was then taken away by ambulance, possibly to a nearby hospital, though he did not appear to have sustained any serious injuries.

Upon his arrest, LaBeouf was charged with two counts of simple battery, which is generally classified as a misdemeanor.

He is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court at 3 pm local time.

LaBeouf has yet to address the incident publicly, and no comment has been made by his representative.

According to a police report obtained by the news outlet, LaBeouf was asked by an employee to leave a local bar for allegedly acting too rowdy.

However, upon leaving the establishment, the actor is said to have started hitting the staff member with a closed fist while they were outside.

LaBeouf then initially left the area, before coming back angrier and more aggressive. In a newly released video, the actor was also seen being restrained and occasionally punched for constantly trying to get up from the ground to go after the same bar employee.

The police report claims it took several people to keep the actor down, but when they allowed him to get up, he went right after the same worker and also struck another person on the nose.

At this point, he was restrained permanently by individuals outside the bar until the police arrived around 12:45 am and took charge of the situation.

On social media, several netizens criticized LaBeouf for getting involved in a brawl in New Orleans.

“This is a 40-year-old man still acting this way. Arrested at a Walgreens 20 years ago in Chicago, arrested in Georgia, like 9-10 years ago, for being drunk in public. Get a life, loser,” one netizen said.

“About to be 40 yrs old. At this point in your life, you either keep on doing the same shit or you learn to pick your battles,” a second user commented.

“Man. What a fall from grace his career has been, after Transformers and Disturbia, man has been a menace,” a third wrote.

Some netizens, however, urged others to be more understanding of LaBeouf’s situation.

“What’s all the hate on Shia about? Guys obviously got some issues like the rest of us. Have a bit of compassion and empathy,” someone remarked.

“Praying for him. We all make mistakes,” one more individual commented.

While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, some details about Shia LaBeouf’s behavior while in New Orleans were revealed by witnesses.

One witness claimed the actor arrived shirtless and without cash at Ms. Mae, a 24/7 dive bar, and was determined to gain entry. The same source stated that LaBeouf also appeared “somewhat belligerent” and, after being denied entry, attempted to pull the “do you know who I am?” card.

According to another insider, LaBeouf later gained entry after covering up and choosing to pay with a credit card. However, the source added that he was eventually asked to leave after attempting to go behind the bar and act as a “celebrity bartender.”

One more source who worked with a different bar claimed that the actor was “terrorizing the city,” although they didn’t confirm if LaBeouf visited their establishment.

LaBeouf was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, the annual celebration held ahead of the start of Lent.

He reportedly rented a luxury Airbnb in Uptown, an area where the major parades are known to pass through.

During his stay, he visited several local establishments, including Dos Jefes, 45 Tchoup, and Brothers III Lounge.

At Dos Jefes, the actor reportedly put on a loud display that appeared to bother other patrons.

“He was louder than everyone and was giving acting instructions to a girl at the bar,” one patron claimed, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The former Disney Channel star, however, appeared in a calmer mood at 45 Tchoup, according to co-owner Deb Shatz.

“He was here, and he was totally chill,” she said about the troubled star. “He came twice: the weekend before last and then Friday. He dipped his card but left without signing, so we added a 20 percent gratuity.”
