Sarah Sherman Finally Spills the Tea on That Aimee Lou Wood Skit — And Trust Me, It’s Not What Anyone Expected!

Is it just me, or does the cosmic energy this May 14th—with Mercury and Uranus stirring the pot of unexpected revelations—feel like the perfect backdrop for addressing a little Hollywood face-off? Sarah Sherman, our fearless “Saturday Night Live” star known for her sharp wit and daring sketches, has finally broken her silence on that eyebrow-raising skit where she portrayed Aimee Lou Wood’s “White Lotus” character with a questionable accent and comedic teeth so big they could double as flotation devices. Spoiler alert: it didn’t land so well. While Aimee called it “mean and unfunny,” Sarah’s comeback? Equal parts earnest and apologetic, with a side of genuine regret—because, let’s be honest, nobody’s out here trying to ruffle stars’ feathers (even if Mercury in retrograde is daring us all to speak our truths, awkwardly). So, was it a tone-deaf comedy misfire or just another case of navigating humor in the era of hyper-awareness? Buckle up, because feelings were hurt, bouquets were sent, and the drama is all wrapped up in this celestial stew.

SNL’s Sarah Sherman Breaks Silence On Aimee Lou Wood Skit

In the sketch, Jon Hamm played a RFK Jr.-coded version of Walton Goggins’ character Rick, and made reference to taking fluoride out of drinking water. Sarah Sherman played Aimee’s character, and replied with a questionable British accent through comically large teeth and with a dazed and bewildered facial expression. She asked: “Fluoride? What’s that?”

Posting on Instagram the day after the skit aired, Aimee wrote: “I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny xo.”

Aimee later revealed that Sarah had sent her flowers as an apology, and the comedian has now spoken publicly for the first time about hurting Aimee’s feelings with the sketch.

Reflecting on the Aimee incident more directly, Sarah added: “I was excited to play her because she’s so iconic, her character is so iconic, and I fucking obviously never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

“Never in a million years did I get into comedy to make anyone upset,” she concluded. “I feel terrible that anyone would feel bad.”
