According to TMZ, court documents show that Reid, who married Lochte in 2018, officially filed for divorce from the Olympian in Florida on March 26.
In an Instagram post, the mother of three opened up about the end of her relationship, admitting that the decision to dissolve their union wasn’t easy.
“Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,” Reid wrote online. “I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life. I’ve been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing — not from fresh, open wounds.”

She continued, “Sometimes we face trials we didn’t choose or see coming. And in those moments, we’re forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future. I’ve come to the understanding that staying isn’t always the most loving decision someone can make. For me, leaving was an act of love — for those around me and for myself.”

As Reid continued in her post, the former Playboy Playmate stated that she has chosen to be transparent about the current challenges in her life because she believes that approach has helped her grow personally.
She clarified that she still believes “God is at work,” and that moving forward, the 33-year-old intends to give herself grace as she navigates the unknowns that lie ahead.
Reid finished her post by asking her nearly 350,000 Instagram followers for “prayers and continued support.”

After confirming that their marriage was coming to an end, the Olympic swimmer explained how “grateful” he was “for the life [Kayla and I] have built together and especially for the love we share for our three children.”
He continued, “Although this decision hasn’t been easy, I believe it’s the right step toward peace and well-being for us both. I remain committed to healing, growth, and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately.”
Lochte finished his post by thanking his supporters for their love, adding, “It truly means a lot as we begin this new chapter.”

On Instagram, many users commented on Reid and Lochte’s respective posts, sharing their surprise at the news of their divorce.
“I’m honestly so shocked,” one user commented. “You two seemed very happy together.”
Reza Farahan, formerly of Bravo’s “Shahs of Sunset,” also chimed in, telling Lochte that he was “praying” for his entire family during “this difficult time.”
A third commenter left an encouraging message, writing, “I’m truly sorry to hear this. Thank you for sharing your pain with us. It’s not easy. May you find peace, courage, and bravery as you move forward. You’ll make it through.”
Lochte and Reid began dating in 2016, the same year the Olympian won gold in Rio de Janeiro. According to PEOPLE, the pair connected on Instagram and chatted for some time before meeting each other face-to-face at a Los Angeles bar.
“We reached out and grabbed each other’s hands and were like ‘This is you! Finally.’ And we didn’t want to let go,” Lochte said about their first meeting. “Our friends were dragging us apart, and that was the end of that night.”
Two years later, in 2018, the pair married at their Florida home in front of their oldest child, Caden.
“I’ve waited for Kayla my whole life,” Lochte told the publication. “She has given us the most perfect little boy and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her and Caiden.”
