Noma, Cane, Tariq, and Brayden in Power Book II: Ghost S04E06.

It may be time to have a hard conversation about this final season of Power Book II: Ghost. We now only …

It seems we’re reaching a crucial moment in the final season of **Power Book II: Ghost**. With only four episodes left, it’s time for a heart-to-heart about where we’re headed. Honestly, as I sit here watching, I’m not entirely on board with the direction this story is taking. Something’s just… off.

Now, I’m not fumbling around trying to identify what’s bothering me. I know exactly what’s up. Shows need a little freshening up now and then, like your favorite ensemble suddenly introducing a new villain to shake things up. It’s all about keeping the tension alive while maintaining our connection to existing characters, right?

But sometimes, there’s a tipping point where too much focus on new faces can make the narrative feel stale. Honestly? I have a nagging feeling that’s what’s happening in **Power Book II: Ghost**.

After revealing Carter as a corrupt cop in the previous episode, we geared up for him to be the heavy in this finale—fair enough! But let’s not forget we already have Noma lurking as Tariq’s problem, not to mention the Tejadas, who consistently provide plenty of conflict.

Here’s where I start to feel uneasy: instead of uniting against a common enemy, we’re spending too much time on Carter and his band of misfits. One episode, my friends—just one of our precious final hours—is all about characters whose names we had no chance to memorize until last week.

Now, I’m a big fan of the **Power** universe, trust me, but even I can see where the original series faltered by getting lost in political subplots, leading us into storylines with characters we ended up not caring about. Don’t get me started on Brayden being MIA during this episode! And what happened to Davis? There was a time when he was a player on this chessboard!

Carter has thrown a wrench into everything and, frankly, his antics feel a tad excessive. I mean, can we give these shady cops some stealth lessons? The art of discretion seems to have flown right out the window while they’re practically staging a Broadway show in front of the Tejadas! If Carter’s truly concerned about saving lives and tackling street violence, you’d think he’d be a bit more discreet in his dirty dealings.

And here’s where it gets even more convoluted—Carter expects the Tejadas to hand him crucial intel but offers nothing tangible in return, aside from perhaps averting their imprisonment. Dru’s got an itch to take out someone who’s name I couldn’t recall (what was that again?), and honestly, poor Dru is having a rough go this season. Why? Just why?

Now, if we’re playing the misery Olympics, it seems every character in **Power** is vying for the title. It’s a bit of a contest nobody really wants to win! Is anyone genuinely winning, here? Nary a soul looks remotely happy, and if someone were living the dream, they aren’t mingling with this crowd!

Speaking of Dru—what’s his game? It feels like he’s merely drifting along, trying to shake off both Monet and Carter. And let’s not overlook his sneaky prowess; his clever ploy to land himself in the infirmary to deal with a troublesome foe was clever! Who knew he had that spark?

Now let’s chat about Noma. She had a solid spot last season with her connections to Mecca, but now? She’s kind of floating around with Cane and, let’s be honest, we don’t have much interest in her politician business venture. Who even cares about that? The suspense peaked when that unfortunate politician met his end, leaving Noma isolated.

This all spirals back to my earlier point—if we’re to care about this cast of characters, they need to be interconnected rather than fragmented. I’m looking at you, Zion, and your crew! The threads connecting everyone need strengthening, like a narrative spider web that pulls us in!

Let’s not disregard the grim reality that by the time we reach the end of this saga, there likely won’t be many cheerful conclusions. Honestly, I don’t foresee anyone waltzing off into the sunset wrapped in happiness. But is it too late for Tariq and Diana? They had potential in another universe, didn’t they?

Tariq, as of late, has indeed been making questionable decisions. After all, he did have a gun shoved into Diana’s face not too long ago, so their “bond” is rather fraught. Despite all that, when push came to shove, he became her option to turn to in her moment of crisis—family, maybe? They share a baby, after all; that carries weight.

Now, I can’t help but worry about Brayden’s unraveling saga! His struggles with addiction are an all-too-familiar spiral and are doing him no favors. A friend taking a deep dive into trouble—haven’t we
