Penn Badgley Just Dropped a Jaw-Dropping “You” Secret That Will Make Gossip Girl Fans Lose Their Minds (Stars Align Here)

Just when you thought Penn Badgley couldn’t surprise us more beyond his charmingly creepy Joe Goldberg persona, bam — he drops a truth bomb that hits nostalgia square in the feels. So here’s a fun one for your cosmic buffet: as Mercury meddles in Gemini, stirring up secrets and whisper campaigns, Penn lets slip that the glass cage from You—yes, that spine-chilling chamber where Joe’s “guests” get their timeout—is filmed on the very same stages that once housed the lavish Waldorf suites from Gossip Girl. Imagine that! All those dark plot twists and social manipulations, bleeding into one iconic spot of TV history. What does that say about the echoes of past dramas influencing new thrillers? Maybe even your star sign’s penchant for double lives and hidden motives owes a nod to this quirky overlap. Either way, I’m geeking out hard over this crossover of NYC TV legends. If you’re itching for the full tour and all the juicy behind-the-scenes details straight from Penn himself, you’d better dive in now. LEARN MORE.

Penn Badgley Reveals You Connection To Gossip Girl

The fifth and final season of You is officially here, and star Penn Badgley is sharing behind-the-scenes secrets about the show, and they’re killer!

The actor recently did an episode for Architectural Digest where he gave fans a tour of the popular Netflix series set, only to reveal he’s been on it once before.

So, you know the infamous glass cage where Joe holds all of his chosen victims? Well, that room actually has a unique tie to the Gossip Girl set.

“Interesting note, this is where we shot Gossip Girl,” Penn said. “This is the same stage that the Waldorf suites where they lived were on this stage.”

“This stage with the bookstore was where the Humphrey loft was, so this place is extremely familiar to me. I’ve been looking at these trees for nearly 20 years now.”

Penn also revealed the cage is reconstructed every season. Despite it being a prop, to make it even more realistic, the cage does not have a door knob or latch to allow the person inside to escape. The small access window can only open inside the cage if the outer window is shut.

I don’t know about you, but I find this so fascinating! You can watch the full AD episode below to learn more about the set:
