One of America’s favorite late night TV shows that has graced our screens for the past five decades is celebrating its big birthday bash.

Saturday Night Live has already kicked off its weekend of fun, starting with an SNL50 homecoming concert at Radio City Music Hall on Valentine’s Day, while preparing for its three-hour live special on Sunday which promises to be jam-packed with series alums, former hosts and the OG cast members.

And in true SNL style, the concert alone is getting a lot of laughs from viewers, with one NSFW moment with Meryl Streep since going viral.

The 75-year-old actress, who was sat next to Martin Short in the audience, was called out by hosts, Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer, after they said ‘someone’ was flipping people off during the show.

“We’re talking about you, Meryl Streep,” Gasteyer said as the camera swiftly panned to the record Golden Globe Award nominee and winner, who promptly raised her middle finger back at the hosts and to the camera.

The gag saw the audience burst into laughter and apparently tickled a lot of viewers from home, too.

Racing to Twitter, fans gushed the moment was ‘so funny’ and even a ‘highlight of an amazing show’.

One viewer wrote: “Meryl Streep flipping the finger is simply everything !! (+ look at how he’s looking at her)”, the fan made in reference to Short giggling next to Streep.

“Iconic”, another fan stated, while a third wrote: “MERYL STREEP THE LEGEND YOU ARE.”

It was apparently Streep’s night too as The Devil Wears Prada star later shared a heartwarming Valentine’s Day dance with Short, who have been longtime friends before romance rumors sparked last year.

The Only Murders in the Building co-stars were spotted laughing, clapping and dancing at the concert which aired on TV on Friday (February 14).

The pair have been friends for almost a decade, but they have seemingly gotten closer since filming the third season of the show with Streep playing the part of Short’s romantic interest, Loretta Durkin.

Their affection and chemistry on and off screen sparked rumors they were perhaps more than friends. However, Short’s reps reportedly shut down the claims, telling The Messenger: “They are just very good friends, nothing more.”

Then on the Club Random podcast, the 74-year-old doubled down on squashing the rumors, saying: “We’re not a couple. We are just very close friends.”

Other notable moments at the SNL homecoming concert include Miley Cyrus’ performance, during which she reportedly called on the audience to sing along to ‘Flowers’ with her, Steven Spielberg appeared too busy checking out the camera set-up than watching the show.

Meanwhile, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson ‘walked out’ after being told it wasn’t an awards show while Ferrell and Gasteyer also delivered a performance of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’.
