According to her team, Meghan’s attendance was a gesture of support for Pierpaolo Piccioli, who recently assumed the role of Creative Director at Balenciaga.
Meghan and Piccioli reportedly share a long-standing relationship, with Piccioli having designed for several of Meghan’s significant public appearances over the years.
“Over the years, the Duchess has worn several designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” the spokesperson explained, per People Magazine.
They continued, “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different. This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”

Although it was her first time at Paris Fashion Week, Meghan is no stranger to the fashion circuit.
Before her royal life, she regularly attended New York and Toronto Fashion Weeks during her “Suits” years, from 2013 to 2015.
Since stepping back from her senior royal duties with Prince Harry in 2020, she has continued to command attention on red carpets, though the fashion week stage had remained absent from her calendar until now.
Her style evolution has mirrored her journey through different stages of life. Now a Montecito-based mother to Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, Meghan continues to balance luxury with conscious choices.

As a working royal, she spotlighted brands like sustainable Australian label Outland Denim, and her influence still drives sell-outs of pieces from labels like La Ligne and Cesta Collective.
Meghan’s return to the global fashion stage comes just ahead of another major moment. Next week, she and Harry will travel to New York City to accept Project Healthy Minds’ Humanitarians of the Year Award at the nonprofit’s World Mental Health Day Gala on Thursday, October 9.
The honor recognizes the couple’s advocacy for online safety for families and young people, as well as their broader commitment to mental well-being.
In a joint statement, the royal couple reflected on the significance of the cause: “Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives. As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them.”

Before returning to California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will remain in New York to take part in Project Healthy Minds’ fourth annual World Mental Health Day Festival on Friday, October 10.
This year, their Archewell Foundation is partnering with the nonprofit to co-produce a series of conversations spotlighting innovators and changemakers in the mental health space.
The festival will also feature Archewell’s Lost Screen Memorial, a digital installation honoring the lives of those impacted by harmful online experiences.
Project Healthy Minds’ founder and CEO, Phillip Schermer, praised the couple’s involvement, calling it a “privilege” to recognize them once again. The Sussexes previously joined the festival in 2023.
