Talk about a cosmic curveball! Over the years, Thomas’s health has been on a rough ride, with heart attacks shadowing the lead-up to Meghan’s 2018 royal nuptials. Now, at 81 and hospitalized in the Philippines, he’s laying his heart bare, begging the Duchess of Sussex to open that long-shuttered line of communication before time slips away. And what’s got me thinking—can generational grudges really withstand such a celestial ticking clock? Thomas even dreams of meeting his grandkids and son-in-law, Prince Harry, hoping to bridge a silence born from paparazzi messes and cut-throat family strains. If astrology teaches us anything, it’s that the stars may guide destinies, but earthly ties? Those require a whole lot of human courage. LEARN MORE.
Meghan Markle‘s estranged father, Thomas Markle, has made a desperate plea to her, stating that he wishes to see her as his life hangs in the balance.
Thomas was in a “life or death” situation that resulted in him losing his left leg after an infection caused it to swell more than twice its original size.
His condition has worsened over the years since he suffered from two heart attacks in the run-up to Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

Thomas is pleading with his estranged daughter, Meghan, to at least open up the line of communication as he continues to struggle with his health.
The 81-year-old was admitted at the intensive care unit of a teaching hospital in Cebu, Philippines, after suffering an infection that rendered his left leg useless and necessitated amputation.
Yet, it’s the thought of his daughter, Meghan, that has filled his heart, pleading for her to see him “one more time before I die.”
He further revealed that he never changed his line since she cut him off in hopes that she would one day call back.
According to the Daily Mail, Thomas also noted that he wants to see his daughter’s husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, “before it’s too late.”

The Duchess of Sussex cut her father off after he staged paparazzi photos for money in the days leading up to her wedding to Harry, and remained dishonest with her about it.
Thomas revealed the news of his leg amputation first to Mail On Sunday reporter, Caroline Graham, texting her, “Going to lose the leg today.” Graham then proceeded to alert his son, Thomas Jr., his primary carer, and his daughter, Samantha, who has been trying to sue her younger sister Meghan for years now.

Reports earlier surfaced suggesting Meghan had “reached out” to her father, but Thomas stated that he was “confused” by the claims and that she has, in fact, not called him yet.
He then shared that he never changed his number so that the former “Suits” actress could “always get in touch with me,” but nothing like that has allegedly happened so far.
“Mr Markle is a VIP patient. Of course, we all know who he is. If Meghan or anyone connected with her had called here, we would have known. It is a big hospital by Filipino standards, but we all know each other, and we all talk,” a hospital source further told the news outlet.

“We were all confused when we saw the story that the duchess had reached out to her dad. As far as we are aware, it didn’t happen. We would love to see the duchess here in the Philippines!” they added.
The claim that Meghan had reached out to her father stemmed from a People Magazine report, in which a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex, “I can confirm she has reached out to her father.”
However, the latest revelation from Thomas has seemingly disputed this claim.

Thomas’s health scare is understood to have been a “life or death” situation, leaving staff with basically no options.
According to a source, a huge blood clot in his thigh had restricted circulation to the lower part of his leg, making it necessary for his foot to get amputated.
“It was life-or-death surgery. Had the infection in the foot moved to his heart, it would most likely have been fatal. He is doing well, but he is not out of the woods yet,” the hospital source said.
“We had to remove the foot. There was a massive blood clot in his thigh, and that had stopped circulation to his foot and lower leg,” the source added about Meghan’s father’s near-death experience.

In his chat with the Daily Mail, Thomas used the opportunity to express how affectionate he still feels for his daughter, Meghan.
The 81-year-old stated that although she’s yet to reach out, he still wants to speak to her and is “open to reconciling.”
He said, “Of course I want to speak to her, but I am not sure if these are the right circumstances.”
Thomas continued, “I’ve always said I am open to reconciling with my daughter. I have never stopped loving her. I don’t want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. It might be nice to meet her husband, too.”

Before the amputation of his leg, Thomas had faced multiple health scares. The director of photography suffered two heart attacks before Meghan’s wedding, which prevented him from traveling to the UK.
Due to his absence, the then-Prince Charles had to walk Meghan down the aisle, an act the former actress described as “the most gracious and kind thing to do. I shall be forever in his debt.”
Thomas then had a stroke in 2022, which left him unable to speak. Although he has been able to regain some of his speech thanks to months of therapy, Thomas’ physical condition has seemingly worsened ever since.
Now, in a bid to reunite father and daughter, the duchess’s elder half-brother, Thomas Jr., sent out a plea, stating: “My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion.”
