Added on December 28, 2024 inCelebrity News Cards, Entertainment News Cards

Margaret Qualley has carved a unique niche for herself in the film industry, often taking on roles in what some might label “arty” films. But, hold onto your popcorn! In a recent tête-à-tête with Vogue Australia, she dropped a bombshell: she wants to step away from the very type of films that got her here. Seriously, folks—who would have thought that a powerhouse like her would be craving more mainstream flicks? “I’m thirsty for a rom-com!” she proclaimed, humorously setting the bar low with aspirations of keeping her clothes on and avoiding a dramatic on-screen demise. It’s a refreshing take in an industry that often pushes the boundaries of art. So, what’s behind this sudden shift? Is it burnout from obscure roles or a desire for broader appeal? Either way, Qualley’s candidness offers a peek into the mind of a star who’s ready to flip the script. LEARN MORE.

Margaret Qualley Wants To Stop Making Artsy Movies

It’s undeniable that Margaret Qualley has already charted a really interesting career for herself when it comes to film roles.

You could argue that her left-of-center choices have contributed greatly to her success — and that certainly includes her turn in The Substance, one of the year’s most talked-about movies that seems primed to make a splash in awards season.

So it was a bit surprising when, in a recent interview with Vogue Australia, Margaret signaled a desire to stop making such choices in her career.

“I think I’ve been in a lot of obscure, arty movies,” she said. “And they’re not actually the movies I like to watch. And I think I wanna start being in stuff that I would wanna watch.”

“I wanna do movies where I keep my clothes on and I don’t die in the end. The bar is low. I’m so thirsty for a rom-com. I’m manifesting.”

Margaret did also specify that she’s “grateful” for her overall career trajectory thus far. “It’s exciting when something becomes a part of the culture,” she said.

“I think that’s what most artists are setting out to do: put enough of themselves into something that it feels somewhat universal.”

I mean, I suppose there’s nothing wrong with wanting to switch things up a bit. What do you think about Margaret’s comments? Spill your guts in the comments.
