Buckle up, because this isn’t your typical celebrity will-and-testament story. LEARN MORE.

Liam Payne Left A $32 Million Estate Without A Will

As I’m sure you know, Liam Payne died on Oct. 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

The former One Direction star was 31 and left behind a son named Bear, whom he shared with his ex-partner, Cheryl. Liam’s funeral was held in England last November, and now, nearly seven months on from the fatal fall, court documents reveal that the singer died without a will and leaves behind a significant fortune.

According to the newly issued court docs, obtained by People, the net value of Liam’s estate is over £24 million, which converts to roughly $32.2 million. In the UK, if a person dies without a will, the money will typically go straight to their children, so long as they have no living wife, husband, or civil partner.

Liam’s son is currently only 8 years old, meaning that Cheryl, whom Liam dated for over two years, has been named the administrator of the estate, along with music industry lawyer Richard Bray. According to the BBC, the two administrators “will manage the money, but they currently have limited authority and cannot distribute it.”

Cheryl and Liam always kept Bear away from the spotlight, but after Liam’s death, Cheryl shared a rare photograph of the father and son alongside a devastating caption in which she wrote about trying to protect Bear amid the “earth shattering” loss.
