This month, Brandy and Monica kicked off their iconic Boy Is Mine Tour featuring Kelly Rowland as a special performer.
On Sunday, the tour stopped in Indianapolis, but things got off to an awkward start when Kelly suddenly forgot her lyrics.
She was performing “Cater 2 U” by Destiny’s Child — which begins with Beyoncé singing — when she mistakenly jumped in early with her own part. Realizing her words weren’t matching the song, Kelly said, “Oh, no, that’s not my verse.” She then appeared to say, “I fucked that up” before bursting out laughing.
Kelly then tried to pick up at the next part, but she quickly realized she didn’t know that line either. “What’s the verse?” Kelly asked out loud, glancing backstage while laughing and speaking directly into the mic.
Eventually, when the second verse came around — the one Kelly sings on the original song — she jumped right in. But she also couldn’t stop laughing at herself for her earlier mistake. “You’d think I’d remember it by now,” Kelly joked, later letting the crowd sing for her.
She also continued joking about the moment later in the show. “That’s probably been my most embarrassing moment,” she said, “and I ain’t even know my damn verse after 20-something years, so thank you, Indianapolis, for saving my ass!”
Others appreciated the realness of it all. Someone said, “🤣🤣 shes only human.” Another fan commented, “I love this! I love when celebs show that they are human. She laughed through it then bounced back. Love her.”
“It’s giving girl’s night out Karaoke night 😂,” another person said in part.
“atleast we know her mic on,” a sixth fan added.
There was also some criticism and debate in the comments about whether it was “professional,” but overall, most people seemed to love it and laughed with Kelly.
What do you think of the moment? Watch it here and then let me know in the comments.
