Kelly Clarkson Vegas Residency Postponement Leaves Fans Stunned

If you happen to be in Las Vegas right now, please spare a thought for the folks who flew in for the opening night of Kelly Clarkson’s new residency last Friday, only for it to be canceled at the last minute.

In case you missed it, Kelly was supposed to be kicking off her Studio Sessions residency at Vegas’s Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace on Friday, July 4. However, just a few hours before it was set to begin, the singer shared some very disappointing news with fans.

On Instagram and X, she announced the last-minute cancellation of the first two nights of the residency on July 4 and 5, saying in a statement: “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”

Earlier that morning, Kelly had been posting about the first show, meaning the news of its postponement certainly came as a shock, with many fans expressing their disappointment online. “Im so upset. But I get it,” wrote one fan on X, as someone else added: “I am stunned.”

So, as for why she pulled out at the last minute, Kelly said in her statement that “the prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on [her] voice.” “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage,” she explained, “so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”

In conclusion, the American Idol winner promised that the following shows, which are scheduled through Nov. 15, will be “truly incredible.” “The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong,” she added. “I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”

Despite the disappointment among ticket holders, plenty of fans have taken to social media to send Kelly their well-wishes. And, of course, what doesn’t kill her makes her stronger, so she’ll be back better than ever!
