Pop superstar Katy Perry is facing fresh backlash from Chart Westcott, the son of the ailing veteran, Carl Westcott, amid her ongoing property dispute with the family.

Perry is seeking roughly $6 million in damages from the elder Westcott, alleging structural defects, deferred maintenance, and lost rental income during the years the house was tied up in litigation.

The conflict stems from Carl Westcott’s attempt to renege on the $15 million sale of his Montecito mansion to Katy Perry in 2020, a deal he claimed was made while he was heavily medicated.

Katy Perry Accused Of Exploiting The ‘Dying’ Veteran, ‘All For Money’

In an interview with the New York Post, Chart Westcott, the son of the ailing veteran locked in a property dispute with Katy Perry, slammed the singer for pursuing damages even after winning the initial legal battle over the home.

In August 2020, Perry purchased Westcott’s Montecito mansion for $15 million, but the U.S. Army veteran later took the singer to court, claiming he had been heavily medicated and not of sound mind when signing the contract.

The case stretched on until December 2023, when a judge ruled the agreement valid, and the keys were officially handed over in March 2024.

Now, Chart argues that Perry could have walked away with “grace and humanity” after her courtroom victory and is baffled as to why she is targeting his father for damages.

“She has chosen to fight a dying man in court, all for money. OK, that’s who we’re dealing with here,” Chart told the outlet. “There’s no argument to justify what’s happening here from a moral perspective, like this is the exploitation of a man whose mind and body are basically shutting down, and he’s being dragged into court.”

According to Chart, his father is currently bedridden, and his ability to speak has deteriorated over the past year.

He went on to hint that Perry is fully aware of his father’s condition, yet still chooses to press forward with her case against him.

“He’s spending his days in a hospital bed and Katy Perry is spending her days trying to get his money,” the self-acclaimed private investor told the outlet.

Further reflecting on the long-running feud, Chart said he has come to believe that Perry’s public image as an empath is nothing more than a facade.

“Here’s what makes me so mad, though. Her public image, she tries to couch it as, you know, empathy and compassion, and all these you know bulls–t words that are not who she is,” the veteran’s son said.

“I mean, her fake compassion, her fake empathy. It’s all bullsh–t. You know, she’s a greedy b-tch,” Chart added.

The trial over the matter is set to begin on August 21, with both Chart and Perry expected to testify.

Regarding his expectations for the case, Chart said he hopes the “Firework” singer will lose and be admonished by the judge for pursuing damages from his father.

In the meantime, he remains baffled by Perry’s unapologetic stance and has slammed her actions as “disgusting.”

“Avoiding accountability for her immoral and wrong choices is basically a hallmark of her. She’s essentially a giant spoiled brat, you know, I mean it, like to boil it down,” Chart further ripped into Perry.

He added, “She’s never had to grow up, and so she doesn’t realize, I’m not giving her, I’m not excusing her, but like I don’t think she fully understands the moral consequences of her actions, like she’s not fully developed from a moral perspective.”

Carl Westcott’s Lawyers Hint The Singer Is Trying To Avoid Paying The Balance For The Mansion

To date, Perry has paid $9 million toward the property, leaving a remaining balance of $6 million. That amount is roughly the same as what she is now seeking in damages.

According to Westcott’s attorneys, it is no coincidence that this is the case, and they hinted that the singer might be trying to avoid paying the balance.

“Perry’s game is clear. During years of litigation, she asserted $3.25 million in loss of use damages. But immediately after the [decision], providing that she would pay $9 million of the $15 million price … was approved by the court, she is trying to add $2.29 million in ‘new damages’ which brings her total damages claim up to $5.4 million, an amount close to the $6 million she still owes,” they wrote in a filing ahead of the trial, per U.S. Weekly.

Katy Perry Rented Out The Mansion To Actor Chris Pratt

As the legal battle rages on, actor Chris Pratt has now been dragged into the drama after he reportedly rented the disputed property from Perry.

According to The Blast, sources revealed that Westcott’s lawyers might subpoena Pratt as a “material witness.”

The veteran’s legal team is reportedly interested in learning about the timeline of when Perry rented out the mansion to the actor and how much he is paying for the home.

“Perry has claimed millions of dollars in damages, and claimed that it’s not livable,” a source told The U.S. Sun. “[The house] is clearly livable because an A-list actor is renting it.
