If you believe the stars can mess with your day, wait until you see what Justin Bieber’s about to do to your playlist—because Mercury’s retrograde spin has got nothing on Bieber’s “Swag II” dropping at midnight . As Jupiter squares off against literally everyone, the Biebs is squaring up to outdo himself with album number eight, and it’s all happening faster than you can refresh your Insta feed . Am I the only one wondering if his birth chart has a secret “surprise drop” asteroid wedged between Venus and the moon? He’s barely done riding high off July’s “Swag,” which racked up more streams than I have existential crises in traffic, and here we are, staring down “Swag II,” blinking, questioning if maybe we’re the ones who need to keep up . I have to admit, Bieber’s renaissance is like an unexpected Leo moon: a little wild, all confidence, popping up when you least anticipate—and tonight, everyone gets to tune in when his next act drops just as the sky’s shifting . Let’s be honest, most of us can’t stick to a journaling habit for more than a week, and here’s Justin, laughing in the face of four silent years and serving two major albums in one glittery, unpredictable year . How’s that for cosmic ambition? Curious what the planets—or possibly his social team—have in store next? LEARN MORE.
Justin Bieber‘s Swag era appears to be just getting started, as the pop superstar has announced that he will be dropping Swag II at midnight tonight for his second surprise release of 2025.
Bieber started sharing several Instagram posts early Thursday, revealing Swag II’s album artwork, as well as billboards in various cities advertising the project, captioning his posts “swag II tonight at midnight.”
Swag II will be Bieber’s eighth studio album and follows Swag, which released on July 11. THR broke the news about that first album’s release. 2025 is proving to be a particularly prolific year for Bieber, who’d previously gone four years without releasing an album before Swag had come out. This will mark the first time in Bieber’s career that he releases two albums in the same calendar year.
The Swag era comes following years of significant changes in the singer’s life. Since releasing 2021’s Justice, he’d suffered health issues, canceled a tour, sold his catalog in a $200 million deal, split from longtime manager Scooter Braun and had a child with his wife Hailey Bieber.
Swag itself opened with a respectable 163,000 overall units back in July despite having few physical album sales since his physical units hadn’t shipped out yet. The debut was carried by 198.77 million streams, and while it ended his six-album streak of Number One debuts, it was the best streaming debut of his career so far. Swag yielded a hit with “Daisies,” which opened at Number 2 on the Hot 100.
Bieber is yet to share a track list or confirm producers or potential guest artists for the new album. His last record featured Gunna, Cash Cobain and Sexyy Red among others. Cobain spoke with THR about his appearance on the album in July, recalling working with Bieber earlier this year in New York.
“We were just in there being free,” Cobain said. “And being creative.”
