Added on May 11, 2025 inCelebrity News Cards

Here’s a wild thought: could Jeremy Clarkson’s near brush with death have anything to do with Mercury doing its usual dance in retrograde—messing with more than just our emails and travel plans? The ex-Top Gear maestro recently opened up about the terrifying symptoms he ignored until a consultant warned he was literally days from kicking the bucket. At 65, Jeremy’s been candid about grappling with health hiccups, tweaking his diet, fighting off the side effects of Ozempic, and gearing up for heart surgery in 2024. But that harrowing moment on holiday in the Seychelles—when a dive turned into a lung-filling water fiasco—was his cosmic wake-up call. Now, as he steers clear from supermarket lasagne and rich sauces on his beloved Diddly Squat farm, one can’t help but wonder if even a star like Clarkson can dodge fate when the stars align against him.

Jeremy Clarkson has shared the worrying symptoms he was experiencing before a consultant suggested that he could have been ‘days from death’.

The former Top Gear presenter has been very open about his health problems in recent years, and even spent some time on Ozempic before quitting due to the side effects of the drug.

Clarkson underwent heart surgery in 2024 and has been keeping fans well updated on how he’s doing, with a change in diet helping his health improve.

However, prior to his emergency procedure, the 65-year-old was honest about ‘not having long left‘.

Clarkson first noticed some worrying symptoms after he took a dive from a boat while on holiday in the Seychelles last year.

He told The Sunday Times: “I always try and dive off a boat on every holiday because at my age you never know when your last dive is going to be, or your last anything, for that matter.

“When I finally reached the beach my lungs were full of water and I realised I can’t do it any more.”

After returning home to Chadlington, Clarkson said he woke feeling ‘clammy, with a tightness in my chest’. His arm also froze and was experiencing pins and needles, so he called an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital.

There, a CAT scan revealed that two of his vital arteries were occluded and he quickly underwent surgery to insert two stents into his chest to keep the blood vessels open.

The doctors also told him to give up high-fat and processed foods, which led to him trying Ozempic and subsequently Mounjaro.

Clarkson will return to Diddly Squat farm when season four drops on Amazon Prime later this month (23 May) but the journalist says he can no longer add the rich sauces he was used to when cooking up the chicken and lamb from his farm.

He added: “The way my doctor here described it, if it has one ingredient, like steak, or egg, it’s fine. But not supermarket lasagne.”

Clarkson, like many other celebrities, has limited his alcohol intake but he seems to have no plans to go sober.

He said: “If you go to bed with a clear head, your mind is active, so it chews stuff over and works things out.

“This means you don’t fall asleep till two and you don’t wake up till nine, so you won’t fall asleep the following night till three.”

But the beloved TV star will be grateful that he is still here, considering how close he was to death last year, even if it means making a few lifestyle changes.
