James Corden's Ozempic U-Turn: From Weight Loss Wonder to Wellness Whoopsie!

Added on April 25, 2025 inCelebrity News Cards

Ever looked at James Corden and thought, okay, that guy just ate a king-size Dairy Milk – the entire bar, the one you give as a Christmas gift – like, right there in a carwash? Well, it turns out our dear James tried something to thwart that exact scenario. No, it wasn’t a diet pill named “Willpower” under the moon’s waning crescent; it was Ozempic, the diabetes med turned Hollywood’s latest slimming fad. Yet, as we’ve all heard through the grapevine – or was it the stars? – Corden found it just as effective as reading ‘The Secret’ for a six-pack. LEARN MORE.

James Corden has opened up on why he stopped taking Ozempic to aid with weight loss.

In case you’ve not heard, Ozempic is a medication that helps to bring down a person’s blood sugar levels.

It’s primarily used for those with Type 2 diabetes, but in recent years, it has become increasingly popular as a weight loss drug, with many people, including celebrities, using it to drop the pounds, despite it not being approved for weight loss by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Since the medication became more popular, a number of celebrities have spoken out about what it was like to take the jab and the impact it had on their bodies, including James Corden.

Speaking during a segment for his Sirius XM radio show last year, Corden said: “I tried Ozempic, and it won’t be surprising to you when you look at me now, that it didn’t really work.

“I tried it for a bit and then what I realised was I was like, ‘Oh no, nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry.’ All it does is make you feel not hungry. But I am very rarely eating [just because I’m hungry].”

He added: “You are looking at someone who’s eaten a king size, and when I say king size Dairy Milk – one you give someone for Christmas – in a carwash.

“None of that was like, oh, I’m so hungry. It is not that, it’s something else.”

In 2021, Corden previously explained he managed to shed some weight – and keep it off – after becoming an ambassador for Weight Watchers.

“I want to change the way that I live,” he told PEOPLE at the time. “I want to be better for my children and for my family. I don’t want to wake up tired, or feel embarrassed when I’m chasing my son on the soccer field and [I’m] out of breath after three minutes.

“The weight is not the issue, it’s the wellness of it I am ready to tackle. I’m going to take this year and work towards getting healthy.”

A number of celebrities have opened up about their experience with semaglutide – which is the active ingredient in a number of weight loss jabs.

For example, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she had previously taken Ozempic to help deal with her weight, but didn’t want to continue taking it in the fear of losing too much.

Speaking on Piers Morgan’s podcast, she said (via E! News): “I lost 42 pounds now and it’s just enough. I didn’t actually want to go this thin, but it just happened and I’ll probably put it all on again soon.”

On top of that, she also experienced nausea, and ‘that feeling’ of throwing up without doing it physically.

“I was about two, three weeks where I felt nauseous the whole time. You get very thirsty and you don’t want to eat. That’s it,” she recalled.

Other celebs that have experienced nausea include Jeremy Clarkson, who tried the medication a couple of years ago.

“My body lost the ability to deal with gluttony but once the initial enthusiasm had worn off, my mind still wanted to breakfast on Cadbury Fruit & Nut,” he wrote in his The Times column.

“This meant I was sick a lot.”
