Influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul had a rather undignified outburst during an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored this week.

The American content creator is known for being controversial, but once again, host Morgan managed to push all the right buttons with one of his guests to get a reaction.

Initially known for his videos on YouTube, Paul has ventured into the boxing world with notable fights against Tommy Fury and Mike Tyson.

Paul, 28, appeared on the talk show ahead of his fight against former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr, 39, this evening (28 June).

Addressing the sombrero he was wearing, the online personality opened the interview by saying: “I’m the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, Piers, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” a shot at his Mexican opponent.

After Paul spoke about his intentions to one day fight Anthony Joshua and Canelo Alvarez in the ring, things quickly turned sour.

Morgan asked if he’d faced any ‘real competition’ despite his record of 11-1, as most of his opponents have been several years older, such as Tyson, 58, or weren’t known for their boxing, such as MMA fighter Nate Diaz.

“The only proper boxer you’ve fought was Tommy Fury and he beat you,” Morgan said, before later adding: “Peak [Mike] Tyson you wouldn’t have lasted 10 seconds… Canelo Alvarez says he would potentially kill you!”

Paul then replied: “YouTube this, YouTube that, Disney that. This s*** is not a joke. I’m knocking out the best of the best.”

He went on to jibe: “You vs. going to the gym… you’re still a fat a**.”

Morgan appeared to keep pushing his guest, claiming that Chávez Jr ‘may be the person’ to bring his career ‘crashing down’.

As you can imagine, Paul didn’t have the best reaction to this, saying: “I think the problem here, Piers, is that you think that your opinion matters.”

After Morgan asked why he came on the show in the first place if he thought this, the former Team 10 member fired back with a scathing claim.

“I’m just taking your audience to sell Pay-Per-Views. I don’t give a f*** about your show. You dumba**. This is a f***ing business enterprise. Buy the Pay-Per-View on Saturday, June 28 – me vs Julio Cesar Chávez Jr Thank you, tune in everybody,” he said, before ending the call.

Morgan burst into laughter, before adding: “Cheers Jake, really enjoyed that. And good luck to Julio. Knock him out for all of us, will you?”

The outcome of the fight could silence Paul’s critics or prove them right.

In a pre-fight press conference that took place on Thursday (26 June), Paul claimed: “I’m gonna knock him out. That’s what I came here to do. First-round. It’s going to be an early night. He’s going to get hit with a right hook right away and I’m going home early. I don’t get paid for overtime. It’s going to be a spectacular performance.”

Chávez Jr remained unmoved, saying that he ‘was expecting’ that kind of comment from his opponent, as it was ‘the only way for him to get attention’.
