In the cosmos of celebrity antics, there’s always something twinkling in the headlines, and boy, does Elon Musk know how to keep our eyes wide with wonder! Fresh off a bout of financial turbulence thanks to tariffs courtesy of good ol’ Donald Trump, Musk’s peculiar private jet guidelines have floated into the public sphere, leaving many to wonder: is it him or the stars aligning to create this amusing mess? With his jet rules raising eyebrows—and perhaps giving those of us ruled by Mercury a double take—Musk’s latest quirks are a reminder that sometimes the richest can have the most whimsical whims. As we uncover his intriguing etiquette for airborne travel, it’s evident that even a billionaire wouldn’t be able to escape the quirks of his own making…or the scrutiny of prying eyes. Strap in for a flight into Musk’s eccentric world and perhaps ponder—what would the planets say about all this? LEARN MORE.
Elon Musk’s strict private jet rules have been leaked, and the billionaire’s curious character is once again being questioned.
It’s been a tough few financial months for the world’s richest man, with Donald Trump‘s tariffs sparking trouble in paradise as the X owner was just one of several billionaires to be hit hard by the new rules.
The 53-year-old even hit out at the Trump adviser behind the idea, which has only seemingly only got worse with time, as the trade war with China continues.
Ever since Musk was appointed as a senior adviser to the president, Tesla sales have been slumping worldwide, to the extent where he lost around $41 billion. Perhaps they will pick up again when he is forced to leave his position as a special government employee.
Trump is undoubtedly a regular guest on Musk’s private jet, but even the world’s most powerful man might be subject to some of the reported rules the owner enforces.
Inside Musk’s private jet (YouTube)
Following a cyber attack on NetJets, a document was leaked which revealed all of the private jet etiquette Musk wants everyone to follow when onboard his favourite jet (yes, he has two), the Gulfstream G650ER.
The private jet seats just 18, which means if he wants to have all his kids (14) and their mothers (four) on board, then one unlucky soul is going to have to miss out. You get the feeling that he’d probably not invite Vivian Jenna Wilson, given that she’s previously described him as a ‘pathetic man child‘ who she hasn’t spoken to since 2020.
The document (via Bloomberg) said: “Mr. Musk considers himself self-sufficient and does not need help with technology—if he does, he will ask.”
So, rule number one, do not ask if he needs help fixing the wifi.
If you like to keep your air vents going when you’re on a plane, then don’t bother getting on Musk’s jet, he doesn’t like the noise. But don’t worry, the cabin will be kept at around 18 degrees celsius.
There’s obviously so much to talk with the billionaire about, whether it be his plans for space or his right-wing opinions on X, but small talk is not encouraged. Musk ‘wants to fly as quickly and directly’ as possible and is ‘not interested in conserving fuel’, the document states.

Just in case you were tempted to start up a conversation, it should be noted that Musk will likely be asleep, as he likes his lights dimmed.
Given that he has taken his jet on trips that would reportedly take just 10 minutes in the car in the past, his ability to nap so efficiently must be commended. His attitude towards the planet, not so much.
