And now, we have some more K-Pop cinema to rejoice over. Anderson .Paak is officially making his directorial debut. You might know him for his work as a rapper, singer-songwriter, or record producer, but now he’s taking on the silver screen.
After hitting the festival circuit, .Paak’s K-Pops! will finally hit the big screen next month. It features both original music and TONS of celebrity cameos.
Jee Young Han, Soul Rasheed, Jonnie Park, Yvette Nicole Brown, and more will also be featured in the cast.
And what better way to revive your struggling career than joining Wildcard, Korea’s #1 K-pop competition show? Friends always have the best ideas, right?
It doesn’t take much convincing to get him to do the show. The only problem? BJ knows nothing about K-pop, which poses a unique challenge.
BJ befriends a young boy who is determined to help him get up to speed on all things K-pop.
But the surprise plot twist no one saw coming: the kid’s actually BJ’s long-lost son. Cue his ex coming into the frame for an awkward blast from the past.
Between the family bonding moments, we discover BJ’s son is also competing on Wildcard.
Are they teaming up or competing against one another? We’ll have to find out.
Oh, and did I mention the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos from Diplo and Jaden Smith?
From the original music from Anderson .Paak to the K-pop journey and everything in between, consider me seated for this film once it drops.
