Harrison Ford has said the Trump administration ‘scares the st’ out of him due to its stance on climate change. The Star Wars icon also claimed he ‘didn’t know of a greater criminal in history’ than the current sitting POTUS.

The 83-year-old, who has served as the inaugural vice-chair of Conversation International since 1991, has lent his voice to various public messages promoting environmental involvement for EarthShare.

As well as speaking on behalf of environmental and conservation charities, the actor has made an address at the United Nations’ Climate Action Summit in New York and is a lifelong Democrat.

In the past, Ford has made his opinion of Donald Trump’s political career plain.

As well as supporting both Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign and Kamala Harris’ 2024 bid, he worked with anti-Trump Republican group The Lincoln Project to produce and narrate an election advert with Mark Hamill.

In his latest politically driven interview, Ford has remarked on the Trump administration’s lack of climate change policies.

“[Trump] doesn’t have any policies; he has whims. It scares the s**t out of me,” the Hollywood stalwart confessed to The Guardian.

“The ignorance, the hubris, the lies, the perfidy. [Trump] knows better, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s making money, hand over fist, while the world goes to hell in a hand basket. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know of a greater criminal in history.”

Ford went on to claim that everything scientists have been saying about climate change over the last three decades has ‘come true’.

“Why is that not sufficient that it alarms people that they change behaviors? Because of the entrenched status quo,” he reasoned.

“He’s losing ground because everything he says is a lie.”

Despite venting his frustration with the Republican government, the Indiana Jones favorite admitted he was hopeful that environmental awareness could be improved.

He said he was ‘confident’ that he and other activists across the nation could mitigate and buy time to ‘change’ behaviors’ and create new technologies.

“But we have to develop the political will and intellectual sophistication to realize that we human beings are capable of change.

“We are incredibly adaptive, we are incredibly inventive. If we concentrate on a problem, we can fix it most times.”

Ford’s scathing words come just weeks after 79-year-old Trump issued scathing remarks on climate change at a United Nations summit.

Proclaiming scientists’ worries as the ‘greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world’, he warned: “If you don’t get away from this green scam, your country is going to fail.

“You need strong borders and traditional energy sources if you are going to be great again.”

Earlier this week, Ford was honored at the Chicago Field Museum gala for his conservation efforts.

Speaking to Anthropologist Wade Davis on Wednesday (29 October), he recounted a life-changing wildlife experience in his childhood.

“I looked and there he was ten feet away, a red fox, totally quiet not moving staring right at me,” the Shrinking star said.

“The fox left and I walked away. I discovered a connection to nature. I knew I was part of nature.”
