If you missed it, earlier this month, Will posted an Instagram video from his Based on a True Story tour, named after his fifth album that came out in March, where he puts on a spirited performance of the inspirational track “You Can Make It.”
Audience members emotionally sang along, some holding up signs about how much they love Will and the impact he’s had on them — however, to some fans, some scenes clearly looked made with AI.
After watching the video, one viewer commented, “Half of the footage is AI 😮😂.” Another person told Will, “U foul for this.”
Some of the signs, they said, were people in the crowd with extra fingers and limbs.
Some also noticed audience members who seemed to have feet for hands.
People even claimed that their image was used in the video, despite not being present at the concert — including actor Heather-Ashley Boyer.
Eventually, Green Day joined in on the conversation and shared their two cents about the video, too.
Yesterday, the rock band — which includes members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool — took to Instagram to share a concert video of their own, showing dozens of fans rocking out among the crowd. They simply captioned the image, “don’t need A.I. for our crowds.”
Will hasn’t yet responded to the initial comments or to Green Day’s post, but we’ve contacted his reps for comment. Until then, LMK your thoughts on all of this below.
