Is it just me, or does it seem like the universe has a wicked sense of humor when it comes to timing? Picture this: it’s mid-January, Capricorn season is in full swing—which means everyone’s pretending they don’t still have half a fruitcake wedged in the back of the fridge—and boom, Dave Grohl decides to throw the biggest, loudest birthday bash Los Angeles has ever seen . Thank you, Saturn, for aligning these cosmic drums.
Foo Fighters at the Kia Forum on Jan. 14—yes, Dave’s birthday!—are turning “party with a purpose” into an art form . Their benefit concert is more than a gig; it’s a heart-thumping beacon for Hope The Mission and the Los Angeles Mission, channeling all that signature Grohl energy into something that’s not just life-affirming, but hope-igniting—kind of like Mercury going direct but way less stressful .
Honestly, this is the kind of celestial synergy I get embarrassingly misty-eyed over . Have you ever wondered what happens when star power collides with, well, the actual stars? Maybe there’s something in this Capricorn moon phase that nudges rock legends to crank up the giving. (And also makes you question your last five Amazon purchases…)
So, mark your calendar and loosen up your vocal cords . Because this is one birthday you don’t need an invite to—just a big heart, a donation, and maybe a spare pair of new socks . Curious how you can join the bash of the year, help LA’s most vulnerable, and maybe even glimpse Grohl’s astrological chart in action? LEARN MORE.

The Foo Fighters are holding a special benefit concert on Jan. 14 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
All the proceeds from the event, which also falls on Dave Grohl’s birthday, will go to organizations that Dave, Jordyn Grohl and the band have long supported, including Hope The Mission and Los Angeles Mission.
Grohl wrote in a statement, “What better way to spend my 57th birthday than making a bunch of noise with a bunch of people for a good cause. This ain’t just a big ass rock show, it’s a big ass party with a heart. Turn up the volume, turn up the hope, but most of all….TURN UP. The best gift is TO GIVE. Can’t friggin wait x.”
The only pre-sale opportunity for the concert will be on Dec. 7 with an in-person-only advance ticket purchase/donation drive at the Forum. Those participating in the presale are asked to bring donation items for Hope the Mission and Los Angeles Mission, including socks and underwear (all sizes — new/packaged only), dried pinto beans (bagged), spaghetti or macaroni pasta (bagged or boxed) and dried rice (bagged). No canned goods or perishable items.
“Dave, Jordyn and Foo Fighters are a striking example of what’s possible when we decide to show up and give back. This concert will be more than just a celebration, it’s a statement that it will take all of us working together to end homelessness in our city so that no one is left suffering on our streets,” Rowan Vansleve, president of Hope the Mission, said in a statement. “We’re incredibly grateful to partner with the band. Foo Fighters and their fans have a reputation of always stepping up to help when people need it, and this concert will be no different.”
Dennis Oleesky, Los Angeles Mission CEO, added, “The impact of this event goes far beyond one night of incredible music. Every ticket purchased and every donation will directly help feed and house our unhoused neighbors. We’re honored Foo Fighters are joining to bring real help and real hope to people across Los Angeles.”
