Added on October 31, 2025 inCelebrity News Cards

So, here we are—Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially traded his Brooklyn holding cell for the slightly less notorious Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey. Is there irony in a Capricorn mogul, known for climbing the heights of the music industry, now navigating the cold, structured confines of a government-run penitentiary? With his 50-month sentence looming and an appeal in the works, it’s as if the stars themselves are throwing him a curveball right under Scorpio’s intense watch. And while Diddy deals with everything from alleged attempts on his life behind bars to legal battles and a presidential pardon that cooled off faster than a midnight toast, one wonders—can resilience born in Harlem outlast even incarceration’s chill? Let’s dive in—this saga’s far from over. LEARN MORE.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially begun serving his prison sentence at his much-favored Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey, sources confirmed Thursday.

Over the past year, the embattled hip hop mogul has been staying at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn following his arrest for a number of federal crimes.

Just how long Diddy will stay in jail remains to be seen, as his lawyers have announced their intention to appeal the 50-month sentence handed down by Judge Arun Subramanian.

Sean “Diddy” Combs would now call FCI Fort Dix home after he was transferred there in the early hours of Thursday morning to begin his prison sentence, per TMZ.

The Bad Boy Records founder was previously held at the MDC in Brooklyn after he was arrested in September 2024 on accusations of federal crime bordering on sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

A jury acquitted him of the more serious charges but found him guilty on two counts of prostitution related offenses, with Judge Arun Subramanian slamming him with just above a 4-year jail term and a $500,000 fine, although the duration he has already spent behind bars counts toward his sentencing.

His lawyers had requested that he be moved to the new facility so that he would be able to “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”

Reports now state that he has checked into Fort Dix as the Bureau of Prisons ultimately granted his request.

The Rapper’s Life Was Under Threat In MDC

Back when he was at MDC, Diddy’s lawyers complained bitterly about the appalling living conditions there, saying he didn’t have access to clean water and could go days without being exposed to fresh air.

His life has also received a significant threat, as his lawyers revealed during his sentencing that someone tried to shank him in jail.

The “Bad Boy For Life” rapper seemingly had a close brush with death as his best friend, Charlucci Finney, claimed that he woke up to a knife to his neck and that the invader could have killed him.

“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Finney revealed. “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.”

However, Finney added that the incident was probably a warning rather than a real murder attempt.

“If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him,” he said.

“It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem,” Finney added.

The 55-year-old is now expected to be released in May 2028, assuming he earns good-conduct credits.

His lawyers previously notified a U.S. court of their plans to appeal the ruling, having filed a notice of appeal more than a week ago.

On Wednesday, they submitted legal papers to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, asking the court to expedite a review of his conviction, as they believed his 50-month sentence should be reduced.

“Mr. Combs expects to challenge both his conviction and sentence in his appeal. An expedited briefing and argument schedule is critical to ensure that Mr. Combs’s appeal of his sentence does not become moot while the appeal is pending,” the filing stated, per NBC News.

It continued, “Accordingly, to ensure that Mr. Combs could meaningfully benefit from any appellate ruling vacating his sentence, we have proposed a schedule that would expedite this Court’s consideration of Mr. Combs’s appeal.”

Key figures in Diddy’s camp have previously said they lobbied for President Donald Trump to pardon the Grammy winner.

However, the billionaire politician seems uninterested in the idea, especially after hinting he won’t consider it because of Diddy’s past criticisms of him after he became president.

A TMZ report previously cited a “high-ranking White House official” saying Trump could commute Diddy’s prison sentence, but the government quickly slammed the report as one with “zero truth.”

“The president, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations,” a White House official said in response to the news outlet’s report.

According to Deadline, the former “Apprentice” host seemingly hit the brakes on granting Diddy clemency amid blowback from MAGA supporters.

A source close to the white house predicted that such a move would be “catastrophic” for the president.

“There was a lot here (in the Combs’ case) to draw Trump in and appeal to his love of revenge and giving the middle finger to those he feels wronged him,” the insider said.

They added, “But it was always going to be a long shot if he would grant the pardon or not.”
