As Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ trial continues, reports have emerged that some celebrities associated with the rapper have sought the services of lawyers to avoid testifying.

Already, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, rapper Kid Cudi, and singer Dawn Richard have taken the stand, but it’s unclear if prosecutors plan to call more high-profile individuals.

The rapper’s trial is expected to last around eight weeks after beginning earlier this month. Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, sex trafficking, and racketeering.

In the wake of multiple high-profile individuals testifying in Diddy’s sex crimes trial, several other celebrities associated with the rapper have reportedly hired lawyers to dodge being called to the stand.

According to Levin, rapper Kid Cudi and Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie, who have already testified, were “the star witnesses” in the trial.

However, he believes the prosecution may still have more high-profile individuals “up their sleeve,” though he didn’t reveal if he had knowledge of the identity of these people.

“I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes there, but they’ve got four weeks left of testimony before they hand it over to the defense. We will see,” Levin added. “But what they clearly are doing is cobbling together what they claim is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he has committed these various crimes.”

Diddy Likely To Be Found Guilty of Sex Trafficking, Says Source

Diddy is being tried on five felony charges, namely racketeering conspiracy,  two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

He was initially facing just single counts of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, but the extra two counts were added in a superseding indictment in April.

Now, regarding the sex trafficking charges, Levin believes Diddy could be found guilty due to Cassie’s damning testimony that he once threatened to leak their “freak-off” videos if she didn’t continue engaging in the same acts with him.

“I think they could nail him certainly as it pertains to Cassie because that clearly would show coercion,” he said.

He added, “So, I think Diddy has a big problem there if the jury believes it. Diddy also has a problem with the interstate transportation of sex workers, I think.”

Why The Rapper Might Beat The Racketeering Charge

Weighing in further on the charges, Levin shared that it was unlikely Diddy would be found guilty of racketeering, a charge that could potentially leave the rapper spending the rest of his life in prison.

He explained that Diddy, allegedly burglarizing Kid Cudi’s house and torching his car, which were actions tied to the racketeering charge, shouldn’t be viewed through a criminal lens. Instead, he described it as the behavior of a jealous lover acting out.

“This feels like a crazed, criminal, jealous boyfriend,” Levin said. “And I don’t think it necessarily shows him to be a racketeer.”

Levin also dismissed another narrative tied to the racketeering charge, the claim that Combs relied on the employees to create a criminal enterprise.

“When you talk about racketeering and organized crime, you’re talking about having an undercover illegal business, selling drugs, running guns, doing hits on people,” the TMZ founder noted. “[Diddy] is not selling drugs. He’s using people to help him buy drugs. That, to me, is not racketeer. So I have a feeling. At least at this point, the jury isn’t sold on that.”

Amid the trial, another victim of Diddy took to the stand to testify about the alleged abuse she and Cassie Ventura suffered from the rapper, per BBC.

The woman, who testified anonymously under the pseudonym “Mia,” claimed that Diddy sexually assaulted her “on more than one occasion.”

She said she initially worked for Diddy as an assistant, but over time, their relationship shifted from being close to being treated like a “worthless piece of crap.”

Mia also described witnessing Diddy’s frequent outbursts of anger and often seeing Cassie with visible signs of physical abuse, including black eyes, swollen lips, gashes, and bruises.

The Rapper Rejected A Plea Deal

In his federal case, Diddy is facing charges of one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

If found guilty of racketeering, he could face life in prison. A conviction for sex trafficking carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, while the transportation charges could bring an additional sentence of up to 10 years.

Despite the chances of spending the rest of his life behind bars, the Bad Boy Records founder rejected a plea deal that may have ensured he got a reduced sentence, as he fights to prove his innocence and clear his name in court.
