Sean “Diddy” Combs has scored another win in the several legal troubles that have plagued him in recent times.

A John Doe accused the Bad Boy Records founder of drugging and sexually assaulting him in a nightclub.

However, a judge has now dismissed the case against Sean “Diddy” Combs, ruling that the statute of limitations for the claims has expired.

Diddy has one less problem on his list of legal troubles after a judge dismissed a sexual battery lawsuit filed against him.

An anonymous plaintiff filed the civil lawsuit in February, alleging that Diddy drugged him and sexually assaulted him in a nightclub back in February.

The accuser claimed he was a 23-year-old up-and-coming artist who had scored a gig at the club where Diddy was in attendance.

The lawsuit, filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, claimed that John Doe was given a drink and fell unconscious, only to wake up to Diddy having “unwanted sexual contact” with him, and threatening his career if he resisted.

However, a New York judge has now dismissed the case, ruling that the time allowed for the plaintiff to file has expired.

According to TMZ, the judge noted that there was a 5-year statute of limitations from when the alleged assault occurred, adding that a new law passed in 2019 extending the statute to 20 years is not retroactive and therefore doesn’t apply to this case.

The dismissal follows a separate legal victory for Diddy in August, where a federal judge struck out several claims in a $60 million lawsuit filed by former “Making the Band 2” singer Sara Rivers.

As reported by The Blast, Rivers filed the lawsuit back in February, alleging that the “Finna Get Loose” rapper subjected her to a hostile and inhumane treatment on the reality TV show.

The case, filed by attorney Ariel Mitchell, mentioned the infamous “cheesecake” on the show as an example of Diddy’s numerous incidents of abuse, as she and the rest of the group allegedly had to walk several blocks to indulge his cravings.

Rivers also claimed that Diddy sexually harassed her by pushing her to a corner and running his hands over her breasts, as well as allegations that he acted maliciously and recklessly with her career when he dissolved the group while holding on to her show money.

According to reports, a judge tossed out most of Rivers’ claims in her lawsuit with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled.

A total of 21 claims were dismissed, among which were racketeering, assault and battery, forced labor, sexual harassment, and false imprisonment.

There’s still an outstanding claim to be settled as the judge wrote that the “determination of whether to dismiss, with or without prejudice, Count 15 (the Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act claim) … is hereby stayed pending” a ruling from an appellate court.

Despite the recent dismissals, Diddy still faces several other civil lawsuits with similar allegations.

The “Bad Boy For Life” rapper remains locked behind bars at the notorious Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center ahead of his sentencing in October.

Following a 6-week trial for charges bordering on sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, Diddy was found not guilty of the more serious charges but was convicted on two counts of prostitution-related charges.

He faces up to 10 years in jail for each count, although reports suggest he wouldn’t be getting the maximum sentence in this case.

The rapper had earlier sought to be released on bail pending his sentencing date. However, Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request, ruling that Diddy was not fit to be released because there were no “exceptional reasons” warranting his release before his sentencing.

Diddy’s lawyers earlier filed a legal document requesting an acquittal or retrial on his prostitution related charges, claiming the trial would have been “totally different” if they weren’t included.

However, prosecutors in the case have now responded, asking the judge to reject the request as there was “ample evidence” presented during the trial that backed the jury’s verdict.

“[Combs] masterminded every aspect of freak offs,” the document read, per Sky News. “He transported escorts across state lines to engage in freak-offs for pay. He directed the sexual activity of escorts… for his own sexual gratification. And he personally engaged in sexual activity during freak-offs.”

Diddy’s lawyers have previously stated that he’s “the only person” ever convicted of these charges. However, prosecutors noted in the legal document that the “evidence of the defendant’s guilt on the Mann Act counts was overwhelming.”
