Dick Van Dyke was asked whether he believed Donald Trump would truly ‘make America great again’ slogan and his ten-word response was brutal.
President-Elect Trump, 78, clinched victory in the 2024 presidential election earlier this month, securing 312 Electoral College votes and all seven battleground states.
The businessman, who defeated Democratic rival and current Vice President Kamala Harris, 60, is set to return to Washington D.C on January 20, 2025, to begin his second term as President of the United States.
Celebrities such as Elon Musk, Mel Gibson and Jeff Bezos have all been vocal in their support for the Republican party leader, while singer Billie Eilish has described his win as a ‘war on women’.
Another famous face who seemingly isn’t best pleased that Trump is posed to take up residency in the White House again is Dick Van Dyke.
The entertainment legend, who turns 99 on December 13, announced ahead of the US election that he would be voting for Harris and encouraged fans to do the same.
Taking to his official YouTube channel, the Mary Poppins favorite added: “Hatred is not the norm. Prejudice is not the norm. Suspicion, dislike, jealousy, scapegoating, none of those are the transcendent facets of the human personality.
“They are diseases. They are the cancers of the soul. They are the infectious and contagious viruses that have been breeding humanity for years.”
Now van Dyke has made his thoughts on Trump officially becoming the 47th POTUS clear.

In a video published by the Daily Mail, the actor was asked by a member of the paparazzi whether he believed Trump would indeed ‘make America great again’ as his campaign slogan suggested.
In the presence of his wife Arlene Silver, 53, van Dyke stated: “Fortunately, I won’t be around to experience the four years.”
The cameraperson went on to query whether the father-of-four believed the ‘future looked bright’ under a Trump administration, to which he responded: “I hope you’re right!”
Earlier this year the Hollywood veteran revealed he was still ‘looking for work’ ahead of his 99th birthday.
Van Dyke attended the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony in September where he picked up a gong for his 2023 birthday special, Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic, before heading into the press room.

He was asked by a reporter at the Los Angeles’ Peacock Theatre how he hopes to be remembered in the coming decades, to which he replied: “For laughter. I hope for making people laugh for 75 years.”
He continued: “I’ve been in the business 75 years. I can’t believe that I’m still here and performing.”
As per People Magazine, he proceeded to look around the room before announcing: “I’m looking for work if anybody has,” followed by a laugh.
