You ever notice how Mercury retrograde gets blamed for everything—late flights, missed texts, maybe even rained-out tailgates? Well, under last night’s Scorpio moon, the energy at the 59th annual CMA Awards in Nashville was all fire—no matter what the planets were doing. If Venus could manifest a rhinestone, she’d probably wish she was on Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson’s jackets. These two absolutely cleaned up—Lainey hosted the shindig while collecting entertainer of the year and album of the year (fifth time’s the cosmic charm, right?), and Ella snagged song and single of the year for a viral hit that refuses to leave my playlist. And listen, even if you’re not reading your horoscope before every big award show (seriously, why not?), you had to feel that fate was twisting in wild, chart-topping ways—just ask Zach Top, who nabbed new artist of the year straight out of a can of Coors. Sometimes the stars really do align, and sometimes they just hand you a golden trophy in front of everyone. Wonder who’ll be lucky (or astrologically doomed) enough to take home the big ones next year? See the night’s biggest and boldest wins—and maybe check your birth chart while you’re at it. LEARN MORE.

Ellla Langley and Lainey Wilson were the big winners at the 59th annual CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday night, as Wilson — who also served as emcee for the evening, took home the big award for entertainer of the year and for album of the year for her fifth album Whirlwind. Langley, meanwhile, won out for both song and single of the year for her viral hit “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green.
“I feel like this is a song that just keeps on giving because fans keep on listening to it,” Langley told the crowd when accepting the award for song of the year alongside Green Wednesday night.
Zach Top won for new artist of the year, beating out a stacked list of nominees that also included Shaboozey, Ella Langley, Tucker Wetmore and Stephen Wilson Jr. and accepting the award with a can of Coors in his hand.
After winning entertainer of the year in 2024, Morgan Wallen, who had one of the biggest albums of any genre this year with I’m The Problem, came home empty-handed this year.
Meanwhile, the Red Clay Strays ended Old Dominion’s CMA-record seven year streak as vocal group of the year.
