Brooke Shields has opened up about her sex life in her new memoir and why there’s ‘nothing wrong with using whatever you need’.
Mother of the Bride star Brooke Shields has opened up about her relationship with sex and how it’s changed across the years, the 59-year-old admitting there’s something she sometimes ‘pretends’ to do with her husband.
In her memoir – titled Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman – Shields reflects on having a ‘fervent sex drive’ when she was younger.
However, she notes, as quoted by US Weekly: “But I never felt like I could step into that appetite in the way that I wanted to.”
And recently when she was asked about her sex life by a doctor it prompted her to take a closer look at her relationship with sex.
The actor – who recently opened up about a gynaecologist’s ‘invasive’ actions during labia surgery – reveals she explained to the doctor she has ‘no desire’ to have sex but is ultimately ‘fine with it,’ however the doctor ‘was not fine with it’.
Shields goes on to admit she ‘sometimes pretend[s]’ she’s ‘asleep’ when he husband Chris Henchy tries to initiate things in the bedroom.

“Here I am […] sometimes pretending I’m asleep when I know Chris is in the mood,” she explains. “That has nothing to do with Chris – he’s hot! He’s been working out at a boxing gym recently, and he looks incredible.”
While recognizing this is ‘not great,’ Shields then opens up about some of the reasons she finds sex difficult and isn’t often in the mood.
Much of her lack of desire to have sex has come from her relationship with her body as a woman who is growing older, Shields says, referring to it as ‘bodily s**t’.
Shields adds as a result of surgery she’s had, she also sometimes finds sex ‘painful’.

She also explains she needs ‘lotions and potions’ alongside ‘the right sleepwear’ to ‘fully enjoy sex at this point’.
“Maybe calling it sleepwear is contributing to the problem,” she jokes, adding her ‘special pillow’ helps as well, alongside ‘maybe a tequila‘ so she ‘can relax’.
While the actor recalls being ‘on the receiving end of a lecture [by the doctor] about how important sex is to a relationship,’ Shields resolves: “Listen, there’s nothing wrong with using whatever you need! Whatever it takes.”
