A recently published poll has revealed how Americans think prices are increasing across the country since Donald Trump promised voters he would lower them.

President Trump has been in power since January this year, and has introduced a ton of changes since returning to the White House for a second term.

The POTUS has signed countless executive orders, implemented tariffs, while claiming he has ended eight wars to name just a few of what has been going on in the past few months. He has also claimed he’s done good work on reducing inflation since returning to the Oval Office and the cost of everyday items has decreased.

“Grocery prices are down, mortgage rates are down, and inflation has been defeated,” the president told the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Meanwhile, the Republican president said in an August social media post how there is ‘virtually no inflation’ in the US.

Despite that, three quarters of Americans have said their overall household expenses have increased in the past year, according to a new Harris poll published by The Guardian.

74 percent of those quizzed in the poll said their outgoings have increased by at least $100 in the last year, while other Americans said they are paying upwards of $500 more each month. Democrats, Republicans and Independents were all involved in the poll, with 54 percent of them saying they believe the US is in a recession.

While many Americans have reported price hikes, those involved in the poll are somewhat divided on who is to blame.

55 percent of both Democrats and independents are blaming the Trump administration for the current economy situation, while Republicans are said to be lying the blame with yearly changes caused by inflation.

Following the release of the study, White House spokesperson Kush Desai told the Independent ‘real wages are up and inflation is trending towards a cool and stable 2.3 percent annualized rate since President Trump took office’.

The statement added: “As the Trump administration’s aggressive supply-side agenda continues to take effect, Americans can count on further economic relief from Joe Biden’s inflation crisis – on top of trillions in investments that are pouring in to make and hire in America.”

While Trump speaks out often about what he sees as achievements since returning to office, The 79-year-old’s approval ratings aren’t looking so good, as US citizens across 24 states had a negative opinion of his presidency.
