The Eternal Sunshine singer posted an Instagram video in the vein of her magical and futuristic Brighter Days Ahead short film to accompany the deluxe version of the album. The company screen shows the message “corrupt file found and corrected.” Above the message shows the filename, “08.06 // est_26.”
The screen then jumps to “See you next year… Announcement loading…”
The likely music-related announcement comes shortly after the Wicked star assured fans she wasn’t leaving music behind despite her flourishing acting career. “Very silly of you all to assume that just because I have my hands full with many things that I plan to abandon singing & music … !!! It is and has always been my lifeline. There will need to be room made for all of it,” the “yes, and?” singer said in the caption of that post, adding a fairy emoji at the end of the sentence.
“It may not look exactly like it did before but I much prefer how it looks in my head. I am having fun. I feel grateful and excited and inspired. Finding a balance, between many projects and endeavors I love, and doing it my own way, so I’m working on a plan to sing for you all next year; even if it’s just for a little,” she added. “I love you.”
The Wicked star, who hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the deluxe edition of her album Eternal Sunshine earlier this year, has had a whirlwind year since the initial release of the album in 2024. She earned her first Oscar nomination for her role as Glinda in the adaptation of the hit stage musical; the film’s second part, Wicked: For Good, is slated to be released later this year.
As for acting, she’ll next star opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the fourth Meet the Parents film. Hailing from Universal, the movie is set to release in theaters on Nov. 25, 2026.
